JOB DETAILS:
JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for the coordination of field logistics operations including organising movement plans, overseeing vehicle maintenance and supervising Drivers.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for coordinating vehicle movement plans to ensure the efficient movement of MTI assets, patients and personnel as required by various MTI departments
Responsible for ensuring vehicle maintenance and repair is conducted and documented in accordance with MTI and donor policies
Responsible for ensuring the ethical use of vehicles and assets in accordance to MTI and donor policies including appropriate fuel consumption, movements, adherence to road and security regulations etc.
Responsible for tracking the regional fleet budget and submitting for review by supervisor
Support Drivers in the fuelling process in accordance with MTI procedures
Instruct staff on travel request procedures and ensure requests are made in accordance with MTI policies
Regularly conduct spot checks of vehicles and ensure Drivers are carrying out required vehicle maintenance checks in accordance with MTI and donor policy
Review vehicle logs submitted by Drivers to ensure comprehensive records and accuracy; maintain up to date files
Monthly compile vehicle file information and maintenance schedules
Conduct condition reports on vehicles and support the Fleet Coordinator in decisions on sale, purchase, disposal and insurance needs
Verify that Drivers adhere to all safety procedures to ensure that vehicles are in optimal condition for the safe transport of passengers and goods travellers
Utilize GPS system to track vehicles’ location and analyse data to determine best movement patterns and use of resources
Ensure direct reports have clear objectives, receive mentorship and participate in capacity building opportunities
Conduct performance evaluations and enforce disciplinary procedures as per MTI policy
Provide coverage for other drivers when required, including driving coordination vehicles and ambulances to support organizational operations such as transporting patients, responding to emergencies, and fulfilling other logistical needs.

Qualifications
EDUCATION, LICENSES, & CERTIFICATIONS
Diploma in Transport and Logistics, Supply Chain Management or Business Administration or equivalent is required.
Possession of a valid Uganda driving license minimum class “B” is required
Training in basic mechanics is an added advantage.
EXPERIENCE
2 years of experience in logistics and fleet management is required.
3 years of experience in Driving is required
Experience working with INGOs is an added advantage.

In-depth knowledge of logistics principles and procedures
SKILLS
Skilled at developing efficient vehicle movement plans.
Skilled in identifying vehicle maintenance needs.
Skilled in mentoring and building capacity of direct reports
Skilled at using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
A good command of both written and spoken English
ABILITIES
Highly organized with good quantitative ability
Ability to maintain detailed records with high accuracy
Ability to support MTI Calling and adhere to the MTI Code of Conduct
PHYSICAL CONDITIONS
This position requires frequent travel to health facilities located in remote areas with very basic living conditions.
