Pareto is looking for an experienced Fixed Income Portfolio Strategist to collaborate with a leading AI lab on a groundbreaking project. This senior role involves partnering with portfolio managers to translate macro and micro fixed income views into repeatable portfolio construction exercises. You will be instrumental in creating strategic frameworks and delivering high-quality, client-ready financial artifacts.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop strategic exercises: Build scenarios for core, long-duration, and short-term mandates that mirror actual professional workflows.

Codify strategy hypotheses: Collaborate with portfolio managers to define and backtest weight schemes and risk budgets.

Construct authentic deliverables: Produce reproducible notebooks with factor attribution and tracking error analyses.

Create comprehensive playbooks: Publish scenario playbooks for rate cut and inflation surprise regimes.

Apply quality standards: Critically evaluate your work using established rubrics and refine based on feedback.

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS

5+ years of professional experience in Fixed Income & Money Markets or a closely related field.

Proficiency in Python, NumPy, PyPortfolioOpt, and Git.

CFA Charter, CAIA, or FRM certification preferred.

Exceptional written communication skills to clearly articulate complex financial strategies.

Strong technical aptitude with proven experience in market data ingestion, yield curve construction, and short-term instruments pricing.

COMPENSATION & CONTRACT

Hourly rate: [$135–$190/hr]

Employment type: At-will contractor to Pareto.

Geographic flexibility: Remote work from anywhere; compensation adjusted by location while maintaining competitiveness.

Visa requirements: We cannot currently support H1-B or STEM OPT status candidates.

TIME COMMITMENT

Calibration: Paid 1-hour trial within first week of acceptance.

Pilot: 1-week paid pilot; successful completion leads to being invited to the official project, which will last approximately 2 months.

Ongoing target: At least ~10–20 hours/week during pilot; 2-month contract in case of project success.

Top performers during the 2-month official project will be invited to potential future AI Training projects.
