It is hard to believe that today 844 million people do not have clean water and 2.3 billion do not have a decent toilet – around one in three of the world’s population. Every two minutes, a child under five dies from diarrheal diseases caused by poor water and sanitation.
Our vision to make clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene normal for everyone, everywhere by 2030. To realise this vision, we are implementing a new Country Strategy for the period 2023 to 2028.

We are looking for people who share a commitment to our vision to fill the vacant position in our structure as listed below. This position is available on a fixed term contract which is renewable subject to funding and performance. We provide competitive and attractive salary and benefits.

Key Responsibilities Include:
The Financial Accountant leads the routine financial accounting functions which includes ensuring proper maintenance of accounting records, administration of financial controls, production of financial reports, compliance with relevant statutory bodies and other functions that results in flawless internal and external audits. The roles support non-finance staff in planning, budget management and forecasting processes. The role supervisees the Finance Officer and Finance and supports the Finance Manager to implement effective and efficient financial controls within the context of the country strategy and objectives.

To be Successful, you will need the following:
• Bachelor’s degree in a Finance field plus a professional qualification such as CA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or other equivalent finance and accounting certification. A master’s degree in a Finance or Accounting qualification will be an added advantage.
• Significant experience in finance and accountancy in a senior position in large organisation, preferably international NGO.
• Supervisory and line management experience
• Highly computer literate and excellent knowledge and skills in using computer-based accounting systems and Microsoft Excel and Word packages.
• Working experience in using SUN systems and Vision excel.

• Prior working experience in preparing and monitoring budgets & developing monitoring and reporting systems.
• Ability to provide financial analysis and interpretation to Country Management Team for decision-making.
• Knowledge of international donor reporting requirements.
• Knowledge of procurement processes and systems
• Strong knowledge of fund accounting regulations for non-profit organisations.
• Excellent risk analysis and risk management skills.

• Experience of designing, coordinating and delivering training programmes.
• Payroll Management experience, preparing and managing all associated deductions.
• Liquidity Management experience, monitoring and managing cash and bank balances, ensuring that funds are available to meet financial obligations.
