ACT4AFRICA Uganda is an NGO, that works to reduce poverty and transform communities in Mayuge District. Ac crucial interventions through a variety of programs in the areas of Health, Education, Agriculture and Livelihoods. The teamwork with community members to improve access to sexual and reproductive health services, mental health support, agricultural training, and livelihood programming to transform the lives and well-beings of their beneficiaries.

 

With funding from CARE International in Uganda, Act4Africa is implementing a three-year SRHR project titled:  My Body, My Life, My World: Empowering Young girls and women to decide over their own bodies and ensure universal access to Adolescent and youth friendly SRHR information and services (EYE universal SRHR) is in response to the high and stagnant teenage pregnancy rates in Busoga region.

 

Job Summary:  We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Finance Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. The Finance Officer will be responsible for managing all financial aspects of the EYE Universal SRHR project, ensuring financial stability & continuity of the project, and making strategic financial decisions.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities: The key roles and duties of a Finance Officer include:

  • Financial Planning and Budgeting: Developing financial plans, budgets, and forecasts of the project that align with the organization’s strategic objectives.
  • Financial Reporting: Preparing and presenting accurate and timely project financial reports, including periodic BVAs, expenditure reports, and bank reconciliation statements.
  • Compliance and Governance: Ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and financial standards, review and authorization of project expenses and supporting documentation for completeness and accuracy, support in audit and assurance processes of the project and A4A at large.
  • Financial Analysis: Providing financial analysis and advice to management on financial status of the project, including budget revisions and alignment, fund optimization and funding options.
  • Financial Management: Ensure effective financial risk management and emphasis effective internal controls. Capacity building to project staff on key activity reporting and accountability processes and conduct refresher trainings on effective internal control procedures.
  • Ensure minimum usage of cash in the transactions, rather payments done through Mobile Money payment systems.
  • Prepare payment vouchers, journals and ensure they are dully signed and stamped
  • Check that all procurement processes and expenditures are followed accordingly.
  • Check budget lines to ensure that all transactions are booked to the correct budget lines and receipts for all payments are obtained

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field.
  • Professional certification (CPA, CFA, or equivalent). -Level II
  • At least 3 years of experience in a finance role, preferably project finance and accounting for NGOs.
