About Organisation:
Action for Rural Women’s Empowerment (ARUWE) is a non-profit; Non-Governmental Organization working with marginalized groups of people especially the women and girls. ARUWE’s story is of hope, perseverance, tenacity and focused determination. Having started as a community-based organisation in Nsangi sub-county in central Uganda in 2003 to a company limited by guarantee in 2008 and an NGO in 2013.
About Program:
ARUWE has received financing from Impact and Innovations Development Centre (IIDC) to scale up the implementation of the Responsible Engaged and Loving (REAL) Fathers program which is an evidence-based, community-led parenting mentoring program, aimed at reducing intimate partner violence and violence against children while promoting early childhood development and learning through play.
Job Summary: The purpose of this role is to provide support in financial planning and management of project budgets in accordance to grant contracts and internal organization policy. He/She will ensure that project finances are utilized according to organization policy and contractual agreements between ARUWE and IIDC. This position is based in the Central region but with frequent travel to other regions. The incumbent will report to the Finance Manager.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Completing day to day financial transactions and documentation in the financial system.
- Responsible for timely preparing and submission of financial reports.
- Collecting accurate supporting documentation for funds dispensed for activities.
- Liaising with the Finance Manager to build the financial reporting capacity of project implementation stuff.
- Maintaining easy and accurate records of financial transactions and retrieving them for verifications when required.
- In charge of preparing for financial audits and providing documents required for verifications during audits.
- Relevant academic training at Bachelor’s level. Professional training will be an advantage.
- At least 3 years practical experience in the financial management of community-based programs.
- Proficiency with commonly used accounting software like QuickBooks.
- Ability to work independently.
