JOB DETAILS:
JOB SUMMARY
The Finance Associate will play a critical role in the financial operations of the Mastercard Foundation Associate Program. This position is based in Uganda and supports all countries involved in the project. The associate is responsible for managing payroll processes for program associates and handling disbursements to various employers hosting these associates. This role requires meticulous attention to detail and strong coordination skills to ensure accurate and timely financial transactions.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Payroll Management:
• Manage the complete payroll process for all associates across the program’s operating countries.
• Ensure accurate calculations of wages, compliance with tax laws, and timely payroll disbursement.
• Address and resolve any payroll-related queries from associates or program coordinators.
2. Disbursement Coordination:
• Prepare and execute disbursements to employers hosting associates, ensuring adherence to contractual and financial terms.
• Collaborate with program coordinators to verify the accuracy of disbursement requests based on associate placements and duration.
• Maintain comprehensive records of all transactions and disbursements for auditing and reporting purposes.
3. Financial Reporting and Compliance:
• Assist the Finance Lead in preparing financial reports and maintaining records as per donor and organisational requirements.
• Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures throughout the program’s financial activities.
• Support the Finance Lead in the preparation for audits and the resolution of any findings.
4. Stakeholder Communication:
• Provide financial information and support to program coordinators and other stakeholders.
• Ensure clear communication regarding financial procedures and disbursement schedules to all relevant parties.

REQUIREMENTS
Skills:
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with high proficiency in financial software and spreadsheets.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively across different cultural contexts.
Personal Attributes:
• Meticulous attention to detail.
• Proactive and able to work independently as well as part of a team.

• Committed to maintaining strict confidentiality and high ethical standards.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• Professional certification (e.g., CPA part qualification) is an advantage.
• At least 3 years of experience in financial management or payroll administration, preferably within an NGO or international development context.
• Experience in managing financial transactions and payroll in a multi-country program is highly desirable.
