JOB DETAILS:
Offices: Mpererwe, Kampala
Work Locations: Flexible. Mostly from office (1 day) to bakeries in Central & East Uganda (4 days)
Starting Date: 6th January 2025

Job Summary
Your major role will be leading the follow-up of existing BISS Bakeries. You will create an overview together with the office of the performances. You will physically visit underperforming bakeries in order to improve them: improve production, improve sales, revise their records, and counsel where necessary. This requires motivating and coaching qualities. You will also serve as the back-up trainer for the BISS Baking and Entrepreneurship training. Therefore, your role will start with attending the BISS Baking & Entrepreneurship training from January 12th onwards (8 weeks).

Key Responsibilities as the Field Officer:
• Monitoring and improving the performances of existing bakeries.
• Assisting entrepreneurs in the launch of their new bakeries.

• Take initiative and bring new ideas on how to improve practices and performances.

• Collaborate with the office (loan repayment section) and report to the Operations Manager.
• Contribute to the opening process of new bakeries (location selection, screening of entrepreneurs).

• Contribute to the selection process of new entrepreneurs.

Key Responsibilities as a Trainer
You will be trained as a back-up trainer for the BISS Baking and Entrepreneurship trainings. In BISS, all trainers also serve as field officers between trainings. You will coordinate the different field officers but should also be able to execute the trainings in case of trainer absence or program expansion.

• Carrying out the BISS baking and entrepreneurship training together with an assistant trainer.
• Following the BISS curriculum for the training.
• Liaise with BISS head office.
• Running the day-to-day activities of the training centre.
• Contribute to the selection of new students for the training.

• Contribute to the qualification process of loan applications for start-up kits.
• Evaluate and monitor graduates and their progress after the training.
• Coordinate internships that are part of the BISS training with collaborating bakeries (BISS Bakeries and other partners).

Qualifications and Skills:
• Passion for developing youth and vulnerable people through baking.
• Leading personality.
• Passionate about baking as an expertise.
• Coaching and training abilities. Preferably with teaching/training experience.
• Preferred knowledgeable in baking.
• Business knowledge and mindset.
• Good communication skills.
• Familiar with Excel and Word.
