Job Title: Field Distribution Officer
Reporting to: Director of Operations
About Giving Refugees Hope International (GRHI).
Giving Refugees Hope International (GRHI), a nonprofit corporation organized and existing under the laws of the State of New Jersey, recognized as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, with a principal place of business at 3 Dogwood Hill, Upper Saddle River, NJ 07458 (“Nonprofit”); and its Ugandan affiliate, Giving Refugees Hope International Limited, with operations in Kyegegwa District, Uganda.
Position Overview
The Field Distribution Officer will play a key role in the delivery and monitoring of long-lasting mosquito repellents to households participating in the clinical trial. The officer will ensure timely, safe, and accurate distribution of products, train recipients on proper usage, and monitor adherence. The role involves frequent travel within the settlement using a company motorcycle.
The role also carries full accountability for all repellent stock issued for field distribution, including accurate and timely updates to the project’s data system during distribution.
Key Responsibilities
- Distribute mosquito repellent lotion to designated households according to the trial schedule.
- Record and report distribution data in real time or at scheduled intervals using the provided system or digital tools.
- Train household members on the proper use, storage, and handling of the product.
- Conduct routine follow-ups to monitor usage, adherence, and any concerns raised by recipients in collaboration with village health teams (VHTs)
- Maintain accurate distribution logs and submit daily/weekly reports.
- Coordinate with the trial field team to troubleshoot any issues during distribution.
- Promote good relationships with community members and uphold ethical standards.
- Ensure the safety and maintenance of the company motorcycle and report any mechanical issues promptly.
- Report incidents, challenges, or deviations from protocol promptly.
- Ensure accurate and secure handling of all trial materials.
Minimum Qualifications
- Certificate or diploma in public health, community health, social sciences, or related field.
- At least 1 year of experience in community outreach, health-related projects, or fieldwork.
- Must possess a valid riding permit (Class A) and be competent in riding a motorcycle.
- Fluency in English, Swahili, and basic Rutoro
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Commitment to ethical conduct, confidentiality, and respect for communities.
Desirable
- Prior experience working in refugee settings or related field.
- Familiarity with malaria prevention or public health interventions.
- Basic data entry or mobile data collection skills
