About US:

The Ajira Academy envisions a continent [Africa] where young graduates coming out of universities are equipped with marketable skills that respond to the employment market needs but also propels them to successful careers of impact and meaning. Ajira Academy is revolutionizing how young graduates transition from universities to their dream careers. Ajira Academy recruits young graduates and packages them through experiential training, coaching and career guidance then facilitate their integration into careers with our network of partners.

About Internship:

Through the year-long internship, intensive bootcamps and educational tours in four different East African countries, quarterly feedback from the host organization, career/life coaching… we basically package a young graduate to become a highly effective, adaptable and productive employee. Graduates finishing the Ajira Experience are therefore better placed not just to compete in today’s demanding job market but also ready to positively impact the organizations that employ them because they embody skills, experience, values and virtue that pushes them to always pursue what we call “restless excellence” at the work workplace and in all they do.

Job Summary: In today’s highly competitive job market, employers expect graduates to be knowledgeable in their field, ready to solve problems, demonstrate emotional intelligence and intercultural competence and be ready to work effectively in teams. Those amongst many other skills gaps are what our year-long signature program “the Ajira Experience” addresses by preparing young graduates for the job market and also packaging them for successful careers of impact. This one of its kind hands-on career preparation program aims to compliment university education by equipping young graduates with employability, career readiness skills and professional experience that gives them a competitive edge in the job market.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • A participant should be 30 years of age,
  • Need to have graduated not more than 5 years ago,
  • Be ready to commit fulltime to the host organization for 11 months of professional apprenticeship,
  • Be willing to attend all the 4 bootcamps and other educational tours that will take place across East Africa. During those travels, meals, accommodation, insurance and training costs are responsibility of Ajira Academy,
  • Be in a position to pay the program cost [ $1000] or meet the requirements for our scholarships program.
