Reports to: Head of Academics

Job Purpose:

Support students of FASHION AND DESIGN course to understand the subject and reach their learning goals. Prepare the timetable and course content, provide individual and group tutoring,

clarify and review concepts taught in class, explain processes and help students solve specific problems.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

1. Provide subject-specific content
2. Recognize and adapt to the different learning styles and student preferences
3. Create a professional and welcoming environment by modeling respect for student’s diverse cultures, language skills and experiences
4. Use active listening strategies to allow students determine content and pace of tutoring
5. Utilize listening and questioning strategies as the primary tutoring method to diagnose student needs and monitor progress
6. Participate in professional development activities to improve tutorial skill and continue to grow cultural competence and reflection skills
7. Utilize feedback to improve skills
8. Help students become more confident, more successful self-directed learners
9. Be direct and kind with students at all times
10. Provide assistance in the use of equipment, learning objects, and materials

Person Specifications:

• Education: Must have a minimum of a diploma from Uganda Business and Technical
• Examination Board (UBTEB) or its equivalent

Experience:

• Must have training experience as a tutor in the subject
• Deep understanding of changing market dynamics
• Strong analytical, communication and time management skills
• Ability to influence cross-functional teams
• Proficient in MS Office suite
