A farm supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the farm and ensuring effective management of resources, staff, and good agricultural practices on the farm.
Duties and Responsibilities.
- Supervise, train, and mentor farm personnel, including technicians, laborers, and support staff.
- Coordinate research activities and field trials with researchers and other relevant stakeholders.
- Maintain effective communication with research staff and management, ensuring farm activities align with research objectives.
- Oversee crop production, including planting, irrigation, pest and disease management, and harvesting.
- Sustainably manage fields, including practices that improve soil fertility and minimize soil degradation.
- Facilitate research activities by providing logistical support, resources, and necessary infrastructure.
- Maintain accurate records of farm activities, research trials, and resource utilization.
- Ensure proper maintenance and repair of farm infrastructure, including buildings, irrigation systems, and research facilities.
- Oversee the maintenance and safe operation of farm machinery and equipment.
- Develop and manage the farm's annual budget, ensuring cost-effective resource use and adherence to financial guidelines.
- Prepare regular progress reports and updates on farm operations for the Head of Farm Management, Country Representative and relevant stakeholders.
Requirements
- Diploma in Agriculture, Agronomy, or Agricultural Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in farm management preferably in a research setting.
- Knowledge of Agricultural practices and farm machinery operation.
- Strong management skills
- Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Good communication skills.
