JOB DETAILS:
Job Purpose:
We are seeking a skilled EV Technician who can work independently to maintain and repair Green Hub’s fleet of TVS electric motorcycles/scooters, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and customer satisfaction. This role involves diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, performing routine and emergency repairs, and providing field rescue services to riders.

Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance & Repairs:
• Perform routine inspections, service, repair, and maintenance on electric two-wheelers, ensuring all work is conducted timely and in accordance with OEM (TVS) service manuals and technical requirements.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and tests on both the bike and the battery.
• Educate riders on best riding and maintenance practices such as battery optimization, tire pressures, and identifying early signs of electrical problems.
• Advise the project manager if additional work is needed or if recommended work is unnecessary, helping to optimize workflows and cost efficiencies.
• Ensure the vehicle is clean when handed back after service.

Field Bike Rescue:
• Respond quickly to emergency calls from riders, performing basic troubleshooting and repairs at the breakdown location and/or transporting the bike to a service station for more in-depth repairs.
• Maintain a log of field repairs and breakdowns to track common issues and improve fleet reliability.

Documentation and Reporting:
• Maintain accurate job cards and records of repairs, services performed, and parts used for each bike.
• Report recurring issues to the Project Manager for further investigation and long-term solutions, such as warranty claims to the OEM.
• Assist in developing repair and maintenance protocols to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.
• Work with the admin on parts cataloging and inventory management.
• Attend to requests from the OEM, such as issues or information required.
• Create a work schedule based on the tickets received.

Customer Interaction and Support:
• Interact with riders professionally and supportively, explaining repairs and providing tips for bike maintenance.
• Educate riders on the safe handling of electric motorcycles and how to avoid common issues.
• Provide customer support by answering basic technical questions from riders and addressing their concerns about bike performance.
• Data collection as guided by the project manager Other Responsibilities:
• Charging Network Support: Assist with the charging network during building and construction, feasibility studies, home visits, charger service, and maintenance as needed.
• Scrappage Scheme: Assist in developing a scrappage scheme for ICE motorcycles, including conducting market surveys on parts pricing.
• Supervising: Supervise the work of apprentices assigned to the Technician.
• Your duties may include any other tasks assigned by your supervisor.

The Ideal Candidate:
• Certificate in Automotive Mechanics or a related field with a minimum of 2 years of experience in automobile repairs and maintenance.
• Skilled in diagnosing and repairing two-wheelers.
• Ability to read and interpret ROs, service manuals, and technical manuals.
• Knowledge of proper procedures for handling hazardous materials and using tools and equipment.
• Knowledge of electric motor systems and electrical troubleshooting.
• Ability to work under pressure and respond quickly to breakdowns in the field at all times.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a desire to stay up-to-date with the latest technologies.
• A customer-focused mindset with a passion for delivering exceptional service.
• Good communication skills in Luganda and English.
• Team player willing to support where needed.

Nice to Have:
• Prior work experience with electric vehicles
• Valid riding permit
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), or equivalent Google alternatives (Docs, Sheets)
