About the Role
As an integral part of the consultancy’s business development efforts, the Environmental and Social Safeguards Specialist will contribute to the growth of Brand Power Consulting’s client base and enhance its market reputation through the following responsibilities:
1. Client Engagement
• Leverage industry expertise to identify and engage potential clients in sectors such as energy, agriculture, forestry, finance, and infrastructure, among other sectors.
• Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, development partners, and private sector entities, to generate business opportunities.
2. Proposal Development
• Provide technical input on environmental and social safeguards for proposals, bids, and tender responses.
• Collaborate with the Business Development Manager to create compelling value propositions tailored to client needs, highlighting the consultancy’s expertise in sustainability consulting.
• Ensure proposals reflect current trends, standards, and regulations in environmental and social safeguards.
3. Market Intelligence
• Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, gaps, and opportunities in the environmental and social safeguards consulting sector.
• Advise on new service offerings or market entry strategies to expand Brand Power Consulting’s reach.
• Position the consultancy as a thought leader by contributing to webinars, conferences, and publications on environmental and social safeguards.
4. Product Development
• Collaborate with internal teams to develop innovative services related to impact assessments, ESG compliance, and sustainability frameworks.
• Propose client-tailored solutions to meet specific challenges in environmental and social safeguard implementation.
5. Revenue Generation
• Support the achievement of annual revenue targets by securing at least 4-5 technical engagements in the first year.
• Facilitate the inclusion of safeguards services in sustainability consulting projects to maximize impact.
6. Collaboration
• Work closely with the Business Development Manager to integrate environmental and social safeguard expertise into the broader consultancy growth strategy.
• Provide regular updates on potential leads, new opportunities, and client feedback to refine service offerings and business development plans.
7. Brand Visibility
• Represent Brand Power Consulting at industry events, conferences, and workshops, showcasing expertise in environmental and social safeguards.
• Publish articles, blogs, or white papers that highlight successful projects and innovative approaches to environmental and social compliance.
Education Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Sustainable Development, or a related field.
• Master’s Degree in a relevant discipline is preferred.
Experience Requirements
• At least 2 years of professional experience in environmental and social safeguards, sustainability consulting, or a related field.
• Expertise in developing and implementing strategies for environmental and social compliance in sectors such as energy, agriculture, forestry, finance, and infrastructure.
• Experience with client engagement and relationship management across various sectors, including public, private, and non-profit organizations.
• Experience in proposal development and technical writing, with a track record of contributing successful technical bids and securing projects.
• Familiarity with international standards and regulations concerning environmental and social safeguards, such as those from the World Bank or IFC.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, with experience in representing organizations at industry events and in thought leadership capacities.
Deliverables
• A pipeline of potential clients in key target sectors.
• At least 4-5 new projects secured annually related to environmental and social safeguards.
• High-quality technical inputs in proposals and client pitches.
• Published thought leadership materials (e.g., articles, case studies) that enhance the consultancy’s visibility.
• Regular updates on market trends and new business opportunities.
