There are 20 million micro and small businesses (MSBs) across Africa and traditional microfinance is failing them. We are here to fill that gap. We are on a mission to build digital financial services that help small business owners across Africa achieve their dreams. We started by building the best working capital loan product in the market, available to financially excluded businesses. That means instead of borrowing from unregulated informal lenders or family or friends, business owners can apply via the app in minutes, and receive capital within a day. Since 2021 we've provided more than $100 million in working capital to 80,000 businesses in East Africa, and we are excited to do more to serve this $5 billion market. We are Uganda’s first and only YC-backed startup and are also backed by world class investors such as Serena Ventures, Onafriq, Breega, and 4Di Capital.
What we are looking for
We are seeking an Engineering Manager who will drive technical excellence, team leadership, and process optimization to ensure the successful execution of our engineering strategy. The ideal candidate is a strong technical leader with a passion for innovation and impact, capable of building and scaling high-performing engineering teams.

Technical Leadership
• Champion modern development practices and best-in-class methodologies.

Mentorship & Career Growth

• Work closely with Product, Design, and other cross-functional teams to align technical priorities with business goals.

• Ensure seamless communication and collaboration within and beyond the engineering team.
Process Optimization
• Identify and implement best practices to enhance operational efficiency.
• Streamline workflows to improve development velocity and performance.
Hiring & Onboarding
• Play a key role in scaling the team, participating in recruitment and onboarding efforts.
• Ensure new hires integrate smoothly and become productive contributors quickly.
Qualifications
• Experience with mobile development (React Native).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and cloud infrastructure.
• Exposure to GraphQL or similar API query languages.
• Knowledge of microservices architecture and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Adaptability to high-pressure environments, with a solution-oriented mindset.
