Job Title: Elite Technician
Department: Tracking and Valuation
Location: Mbarara (with frequent travel to all the districts in Western Uganda)
Reports to: Ass. Head of Head of Tracking & Valuation- UG

Job Purpose
Responsible for vehicle valuation and vehicle tracker fitment.

Main Responsibilities of the Job
• Inspect motor vehicles and determine their estimated market values.
• Diagnose and advise on problems relating to mechanical, electrical and body repairs.
• Determine vehicle road worthiness and road-test vehicles accordingly.
• Update daily register on all vehicles valued.
• Regularly advise on changes within the automobile industries.
• Assist in dispute resolution on valuations.
• Ensure that installation and concealment of tracking devices is professionally done and is approved by the supervisor.
• Ensure that client’s details are correctly captured in the installation form/ job cards.
• Commence installation only after internal requisition and installation order is properly recorded and approved.
• Ensure completeness of client’s information in the database in the control room.
• Test the tracking unit after installation to confirm functionality.
• Ensure the installation areas are properly secured during and after installation.
• Before a client’s vehicle is handed over, ensure that he/she signs the post installation form to confirm that all is well.
• Ensure that all the client’s information is confidential at all times.
• Any other duty assigned by the immediate Supervisor.

Academic and Professional Requirements
• Minimum of a Diploma in Automotive Engineering or its equivalent.
• 2-3 years working experience.
• Valid driver’s license and motorcycle riding license (both are a necessity).

Skills and Competencies
• Excellent communication skills.
• Have the ability to build relationships with all stakeholders-customers, external valuers and internal customers (staff).
• Good riding and driving skills.
• Have good interpersonal skills.
• High level of confidentiality.

Job Title: Quality Checks Officer- Valuation
Department: Tracking & Valuation
Location: Kampala, Uganda
Reports to: Head of Tracking & Valuation- UG

Job Purpose
To ensure proper motor vehicle valuation and assessment; review and approval of reports; training, mentoring and coaching of junior officers. Ensure to adhere to policies and procedures of the department and organization as a whole, and keeping up with the new technological trends in the market.

Main Responsibilities of the Job
Review and Approval of Valuation Reports
• Verifying valuation reports for completeness and accuracy before approving.
• Verifying the valued price accordingly to ensure no overstating or understating.
• Maintaining of all records being handled at the approval center for future reference.
• Ensuring timely review and approval of reports.
• Maintaining the updated price lists for reference in approval.
• Re-evaluating disputed initial valuation reports in case of appeal from customers.
• Adhering to quality assurance procedures and work instructions while approving of reports.
Training, coaching and mentoring of junior valuation officers
• Being a reference point for junior valuation officers, guiding the team upon consultation.
• Guiding, mentoring and coaching the field officers upon identification of weak areas.
• Ensuring that valuation officers comply with established policies and procedures while submitting reports.
• Carrying out induction of new staff.
Procedures, policies and work instructions
• Thorough understanding and adhering to department policies, procedures and work instructions.
• Participating in giving input to improvements in the department that can enhance efficiency.
• Ensuring junior officers follow documented processes.
Continuous career development and research
• Carrying our research on new technologies in the automotive market and applying the same in daily duties.
• Participating in identified training by the company and ensuring full implementation of gained skills.
• Performing any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Academic and Professional Requirements
• Hold a minimum of a Diploma in Automotive Engineering or its equivalent from a recognized Institution.
• Being a member of the Institute of professional Engineers is an added advantage.
• Have at least 3 years’ practical experience in a busy valuation and insurance company.
• Holder of a clean driving license with at least 2 years’ driving experience.

• Ready to work under minimum supervision.
• Have good report writing/computer skills.
• In-depth knowledge of the vehicle systems and components.
• Self-starter and proactive.
• Excellent communication skills, interpersonal/customer handling skills.
