Duties and responsibilities
  • Participate in relevant meetings e.g. protection meetings.
  • Responsible for community mobilization/sensitization on VST and other related NRC activities.
  • Provide on-site support supervision and feedback to instructors and Lead instructor.
  • Ensure community participation, contribution and ownership in the VST program.
  • Carry out home visits to VST learners and take part in discussing issues that affect learners.
  • Identify community concerns that hinder the enrollment of youth in VST, retention and completion to start income generating activities
  • Assist in identification and registration of VST and keep update database of trainees
  • Monitor, report on the project activities and ensure compliance with plans and standards
  • Responsible for community mobilization/sensitization on Vocational Skills Training (VST) and other related project activities.
  • Provide on-site support supervision and feedback to VST Instructors and Lead Instructors.
  • Ensure community participation, contribution and ownership in the VST program.
  • Liaise with community leaders to ensure that out of school youths benefit from VST
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports on activities within each VST Centre with relevant data
  • Inspect and supervise regularly all the VST Center/school
  • Ensure a constructive co-operation and collaboration of the local authorities in the implementation of VST programme activities.
Qualifications
  •  Minimum of a Diploma in Vocational studies, Teacher Technical education with advanced certificate in any technical training field.
  • Pocession of Bachelor’s degree in the field of technical teacher education, vocational studies in technological studies with education majoring in building, civil engineering, electrical, mechanics is an added advantage .
  • At least 3 years’ experience as a technical teacher/instructor of vocational studies or hands on experience in handling formal and non-formal skills training
  • Experience from working with education projects in a humanitarian/recovery context
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • Computer knowledge, MS Word, Excel, internet.
Personal qualities
  • Knowledge of the local context and technical education systems in Uganda
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of local languages commonly spoken in beneficiaries/refugees and host community of kyangawli,and refugees is an asset.
We can offer
Job Grade:                 4, as per NRC Uganda approved scale
Contract Duration:  9 months renewable subject to funding.
Duty station:             Kyangwali.
Travel:                        10%
