VVOB works with governmental and educational actors to build capacity and improve education systems worldwide.

Position Overview

The Education Advisor – Greening and Green Agrifood will:

• Develop a new Green Agrifood Continuous Professional Development (CPD) course for O-level agriculture teachers.
• Design and implement capacity-building trajectories for UNITE campus lecturers to deliver the course.
• Advise on integrating environmental sustainability principles into existing teacher training and CPD courses.
• Support the implementation of VVOB’s Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability policy.

The role is part of the Green LEAP (2022-2026) program, funded by the Belgian government, which aims to improve agriculture and entrepreneurship teaching in Uganda’s secondary schools.

Key Responsibilities

1. 1. Technical Support: Provide guidance to partners and collaborate with VVOB colleagues to achieve project goals.
   2. Project Management: Contribute to project formulation, budgeting, implementation, and evaluation.
   3. Capacity Development: Design and deploy methods like workshops, training, and mentoring for educational institutions.
   4. Networking: Stay updated on policy trends in agricultural education and green skills development.

Highlights of the Workweek:

• Meetings with agrifood industry actors to gather input for the CPD course.
• Drafting instructional materials and assignments.
• Consulting with government officials to mainstream environmental awareness in curricula.
• Organizing study visits for UNITE lecturers to green agrifood enterprises.

Who Are You?

Requirements:

• Ugandan national.
• Master’s degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Education, Environmental Education, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of experience in green agriculture or green skills development.
• Proven expertise in developing CPD courses for teachers.
• Strong communication and project management skills.
