ST.LOUIS & LYNN HOLDINGS DRIVING SCHOOL was established in 2022 with an aim to promote road safety, teach good driving habits, and ensure that students are adequately prepared to pass both written and road tests. Schools aim to reduce the likelihood of accidents by providing effective driver training. It's currently having branches in BULOBA, ENTEBBE, & BUNAMWAYA-Ngobe Road(Head Office)

Job Purpose 

  • To teach individuals how to operate a vehicle safely and responsibly while ensuring they meet the necessary legal and regulatory requirements to obtain a driver's license.
  • To provide practical driving lessons, explaining traffic laws, road signs, and safety protocols, and helping students gain confidence in their driving skills.
  • To assess students' progress, offer constructive feedback, and prepare them for both written and practical driving exams at IOV. The overall goal is to equip learners with the skills, knowledge, and habits required for safe and competent driving.

Job specification

Responsibilities 

1. Delivering Driving Lessons: 

  • Conduct one-on-one or group driving lessons.
  • Teach students how to operate a vehicle, perform basic maneuvers, and follow traffic rules.
  • Provide practical driving experience on different types of roads (e.g., urban, highway, residential)

2. Assessing Student Progress: 

  • Monitor students' driving skills and behavior during lessons.
  • Evaluate progress and identify areas needing improvement.
  • Provide constructive feedback to help students improve their driving skills.

3. Preparing Students for Driving Tests: 

  • Ensure students are ready for both the practical and theoretical components of the driving exam.
  • Simulate driving test conditions to help students feel confident.
  • Teach students how to perform specific maneuvers required in driving rests (e.g., parallel parking, three-point turns).

4. Ensuring Safety: 

  • Promote safe driving practices, including the use of seat belts, obeying speed limits, and maintaining a safe following distance.
  • Educate students about road safety, including how to handle emergency situations and avoid potential hazards.
  • Ensure the vehicle is maintained in good working condition for safety during lessons.

5. Creating Lesson Plans:

  • Develop structured lesson plans based on the student's skill level and learning needs.
  • Adapt lessons to address any special concerns or challenges a student might have.

6. Maintaining Accurate Records: 

  • Keep detailed records of each student's progress, lessons completed, and any feedback provided.
  • Track the student's readiness for the driving test and provide necessary reports if required.

7. Enforcing Traffic Laws: 

  • Teach and emphasize the importance of obeying traffic laws and road signs.
  • Correct any violations of traffic rules during driving lessons.

8. Providing Customer Service: 

  • Communicate effectively with students, parents (if applicable), and other stakeholders.
  • Address any concerns or questions students may have regarding the driving process.

9. Handling Administrative Tasks: 

  • Manage scheduling of driving lessons and maintain appointments.
  • Ensure proper paperwork is completed, such as student evaluations and test submissions.

10. Ensuring Safety: Instructors should be responsible for ensuring a safe learning environment, including making sure that both the student and the vehicle are safe to drive before each lesson. They must adhere to all road safety regulations during practical driving lessons.

11. Creating Lesson Plans: Driving instructors should often create customized lesson plans based on the student's skill level and learning pace. In other words, the instructor should adapt their approach to meet individual needs and ensure that all aspects of driving are covered.

12. To train student Ensuring Compliance: Teaching students the rules of the road and ensuring they understand local traffic laws, road signs, and regulations.

Educational requirements-

  • Should have completed O LEVEL with its certificate

Work experience.

  • Should have avalid drivers permit with 5 years experience

  • Excellent driving skills and the ability to demonstrate proper techniques for all maneuvers.
  • Competence in managing different types of vehicles (MANUAL & AUTOMATIC) and driving environments

2. Knowledge of Road Safety and Traffic Laws: 

  • A deep understanding of road rules, traffic laws, and best driving practices.
  • Staying updated on local regulations, road signs, and changes in driving laws.

3. Time Management: 

  • Managing time effectively to ensure that lessons are conducted efficiently and students are given enough time to practice.
  • Scheduling lessons in a way that helps students gradually build their skills.

4. Customer Service Skills: 

  • Providing a positive experience for students by being approachable, friendly, and professional.
  • Handling inquiries, managing expectations, and offering assistance to students and their families.

5. Crisis Management: 

  • Handling emergencies or unexpected situations calmly (e.g., dealing with nervous students, accidents, or vehicle issues).
  • Knowing how to manage situations that could cause stress or panic for students.

6. Adaptability: 

  • Being flexible in teaching methods to suir different learners, whether they are beginners, nervous, or more experienced drivers.
  • Adapting to different road conditions, traffic situations, and environments during driving lessons.
