Job Summary:

Diligently and faithfully perform the duties of a Driver and such other duties as may be required of him/her during such hours and on such days as are normally worked by those holding similar parts of the said institution or and devote the whole of the employee time and attention to the service of the employer.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

You are required to undertake but are not limited to the following duties directed by the Supervising Officer.

1. Making urgent deliveries.

2. Switching between company motorcycle(s) and motor vehicle(s) when necessary.

3. To provide safe, comfortable and reliable transportation for company staff and partners/visitors.

4. Good knowledge of routes within Kampala Metropolitan area to avoid traffic congestion

5. To drive the company Vehicles and motorcycles as scheduled.

6. Conduct comprehensive pre-trip and post-trip inspections of your vehicle and maintain vehicle service and inspection records.

7. Exhibit a proactive attitude at work but high frugality in handling finances

8. To transport company materials and supplies to various destinations as required by the authorized staff for company business as well as any other written or verbal communication to and from locations designated by authorized staff.

9. To keep the company vehicle/Motorcycle in good mechanical and functional condition including but not confined to regular fueling, servicing and cleaning of the interior and exterior.

10. To ensure TIMELY notification to the Administration or Logistics Manager of any major vehicle/motorcycle repairs necessary.

11. To perform regular preventive maintenance and minor repairs where possible.

12. To ensure that all required documentation for administrative use such as mileage, fuel usage and trip authorization tracking information is kept up to date at all times in the prescribed manner.

13. To ensure that all legal, institutional and municipal requirements and dues are met.

14. To ensure that all reasonable measures are taken to protect the Company vehicle or motorcycle from theft or damage.

15. To run general errands and assume other duties as assigned by the supervisor to ensure the sound functioning of the office and achievement of Company goals.

16. To make deliveries to clients as instructed and subsequently collect payment where necessary.

17. Ensure that the vehicles or motorcycles are serviced in line with the required standards.

18. Report any damages or accident that might have occurred during your duties or even when you are not the one driving the vehicle.

19. Keep records of all the movement made using vehicle and or motorcycle logbook.

20. Performs all other related duties as assigned such as special assignments and annual major objectives as required.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Class C Permit. High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years of driving experience. English fluency.
  • Must be able to ride both a motorcycle and a vehicle.
  • Holding a valid driver’s license
  • Having a clean driving and medical record
  • Complete knowledge of road safety rules and regulations
  • Familiarity with GPS tools and Google Maps
  • Knowledge of computer skills is a plus.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent driving skills and road sense
  • Ability to work for long hours, at night, and on weekends
  • Well-groomed and highly motivated individual
  • Good time-management skills
  • Ability to offer excellent customer service
  • Previous strong experience working in Dispatch and delivering of Clients’ Orders with minimum of 1(One) year working experience.
