Our ultimate goal is to strengthen the resilience, and protect the lives, rights and livelihoods of vulnerable people and communities. NRC also runs the Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre in Geneva, a global leader in reporting on and advocating for people displaced within their own country.
Duties and responsibilities
Generic responsibilities
- Transport NRC staff, visitors, documents and goods/materials to designated destinations when officially approved
- Ensure the safety and security of the passengers, the goods and the vehicle
- Immediately report accidents, breakdowns and needs of repair and general maintenance /service
- Respect the local traffic regulations and the NRC logistical/vehicle policies at all times
- Maintain the logbook for all trips
- Maintain the vehicle in proper operating condition at all times, including keeping the vehicle clean, ensuring enough fuel, checking the technical state etc
- In liaison with the line manager, arrange for repairs and servicing
- Ensure the assigned vehicle has all the necessary documents and equipment
- Provide logistical support during trainings and workshops
Specific responsibilities
- Mapping out movement routes in the camp and within the operations area
- Maintain neatness of the vehicle interior and exterior
- Reporting any accidental incidences with an incidence report to the line manager
Qualifications
- Minimum of Senior four (O-Level qualification) is required
- Valid driving permit - DM class
- Minimum of 3 years experiences as a driver in an INGO / large organization
- Training in defensive driving will be an advantage
- Very good command of English

Contract Duration: 7 months renewable subject to funding
Duty station(S): Kampala
Travel: 75%
