Job Title : Dispenser
Salary Scale : U5
Reports To : Pharmacist
Responsible For : Pharmacy Orderly

Job Purpose
To dispense and advise patients on proper use and storage of medicines

Key Outputs
i. Dispensing activities planned;
ii. Medicines given to patients registered;
iii. Advice to various stake holders tendered;
iv. Requisitions for medicines and health supplies made;
v. Assistance in the preparation of quality compounded medicines and infusions provided;
vi. Expired and damaged medicines reported;
vii. Reports compiled and submitted; and
viii.Participation in research activities.

Key Functions
i. Planning for dispensing activities in the hospital;
ii. Registering all medicines given to patients ;
iii. Advising patients and attendants on proper use and storage of medicines;
iv. Advising Clinicians and other Health Professionals on prescriptions;
v. Making requisitions for medicines and health supplies from stores;
vi. Assisting in the Preparation of quality compounded medicines and infusions;
vii. Reporting expired and damaged medicines;
viii.Compiling and submitting reports; and
ix. Participating in research activities.

Education Requirements

Must have a Diploma in Pharmacy or its equivalent from a recognized Institution.
Must be registered and licensed with the Allied Health Professionals Council.
