This is a Fixed term role until 31st December 2025

Reporting to the Manager Disaster Recovery Funding Assessment, this role will champion the development and delivery of DRFA assessment services, leading the technical assessment of claims and provide expert advice and guidance to the assessment team. The role will coordinate with the Delivery Agencies (Local Government) to assess claims submitted by Local Governments after a declared disaster. The role performs data anaysis in relation to claims assessments and grenerating reports as required. The incumbent will also be required to provide general awareness training regarding DRFA guidelines.

This role provides professional independent judgement in relation to the suitability and eligibility of recovery activities undertaken including analysis of costs associated with recovery works including for technical road and bridge projects that have been affected by declared disasters

Position Outcomes

The role involves negotiating and influencing stakeholders to ensure cooperation and meet project timelines, particularly in coordinating claim assessments for the DRFA Administering Authority. This includes adhering to policies, procedures, and standards. Additionally, it entails providing specialist advice, undertaking complex analysis, and exercising independent judgment in cost analysis for recovery works. Leading the technical assessment of Category B DRFA claims and providing leadership in adapting concepts to operational matters are also key responsibilities. Moreover, the role involves monitoring financial reporting from local governments to identify project risks and providing practical solutions. Liaising with municipalities and conducting awareness training on DRFA guidelines, as well as promoting safe and inclusive team operations, are integral aspects of the role.

Qualifications And Experience

Mandatory

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Civil) or related field
  • Minimum 2 years relevant industry experience

Role Specific Requirements

  • Driver’s License
  • Shift work is required
  • Involve evening or weekend work including occasional overnight travel
  • You may be required to undertake a medical and other safety compliance requirement
