Job Title: Deputy Chief Justice
Organisation: Judicial Service Commission

About the Company:
The Judicial Service Commission is a Constitutional body established under Article 146 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda, 1995, whose mandate is to recruit judicial officers and regulate their conduct.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: Key Responsibilities and Administrative Functions of the Deputy Chief Justice:
- In accordance with Article 133 of the Constitution, the Deputy Chief Justice shall:
- Deputize the Chief Justice as required.
- Serve as the Head of the Court of Appeal and assist in its administration.
- Perform any other duties delegated or assigned by the Chief Justice.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- A minimum of fifteen years of experience as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Uganda, Justice of Appeal, Judge of the High Court, or a Court of similar jurisdiction, or have practiced as an Advocate for a period not less than fifteen years in a Court with unlimited jurisdiction in civil and criminal matters (Article 143(1)(b) of the Constitution).
- Relevant experience as a public officer in a role requiring Advocate qualifications will count towards the required period, even without a practicing certificate (Article 143(2) of the Constitution).
