Job Description/Requirements

JOB TITLE: DEPOT ASSISTANT (X2)

Job Purpose 

  • Filling Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG)/ Cooking Gas cylinders
  • Loading and Offloading LPG/ Gas Cylinders to and fro different vehicle types
  • Cleaning, sorting, and organizing Gas cylinders at the depot

Company background 

Ultimate Gas Professionals Limited is a Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG)/ “Cooking” Gas Distribution and Marketing company of its own new brand of cylinder with the trademark “UGAS”. The company was incorporated in 2010 and begun operations as a TOTALENERGIES gas distribution company until late in 2023 when it introduced its own brand of gas. It operates within the Country’s Oil & Gas sector and also undertakes Consultancy services within the same sector.

Reporting to: DEPOT SUPERVISOR

Job specification 

  • Safely load and unload trucks and gather stock/ cylinders from the warehouse/ storage area
  • Sort & organize gas cylinders including performing stock counts whenever necessary/ required
  • Operate gas filling machine/ tank/ equipment to fill cylinders
  • Accurate count of all incoming cylinders and load/unload trucks
  • Inspects all parts of the cylinder to include the cylinder itself, label, and valve
  • Follow the company procedures for safe handling, storing and securing of the cylinders
  • Receives all goods according to standard written procedures
  • Connects cylinders to manifold and open valves to draw off residual gas and evacuate
  • Review and document proper thermometer, gauge, and analytical equipment calibrations
  • Fill, weigh, and document cylinders in accordance with specific guidelines
  • Perform all required pre-fill and post-fill inspections and tests before cylinders are released
  • Regularly inspect and maintain pumping apparatus and associated monitoring devices
  • Safely operate the filling machine and perform the necessary mathematical calculations required
  • Maintain filling equipment in good, clean, safe and working condition through routine checks
  • Notify the responsible staff/ supervisor in case of any need for repairs or maintenance
  • Maintain LPG cylinders in good condition including by performing leakage and damage checks
  • Maintain LPG Cylinders in clean condition including by washing them
  • Help in counting and moving accessories to and fro delivery vehicles as the case may require
  • Provide support to system/ equipment repair and maintenance crew
  • Provide the required information and other input into the Supervisors daily and periodical reports
  • Maintain an organized, clean and tidy work space at all times including during refilling activities.
  • Perform any other relevant duties as may be assigned from time to time

Candidate specification 

  • Minimum of a High school certificate (HSC) in science subjects
  • Good written and verbal skills, especially skills in customer service are necessary.
  • Must have basic mathematical computing skills.
  • Basic understanding of safety and quality control concepts and practices
  • Must have the ability to read and understand technical and safety instructions
  • Must be able to work outdoors in varying degrees of temperature.
  • Must be strong enough to push, pull, maneuver, lift and or weights of up to 100Kgs
  • Ability to perform work during prolonged periods of standing (up to eight hours) is necessary.
  • Ability to endure Frequent bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, grasping & repetitive motion.

Critical skills required 

  • Comfortable with counting and figures.
  • Comfortable with machines and machine operation.
  • Ability and confidence to troubleshoot breakdowns following prior instruction from more technical personnel.
  • Ability to work with diverse teams including external contractors, government regulatory authorities and senior management of the company among other stakeholders.
  • Effective organisation and Multitasking skills including the ability to handle and or support multiple projects/ activities on site.
  • Safety Awareness and familiarity with safety procedures and legislation.
  • Ability to maintain utmost confidentiality in respect of all communication and dealings
  • Ability to make sound judgment and reasonable decisions in the absence of direction
  • Ability to stay focused and work effectively without constant and direct supervision
  • Ability to utilize analytical skills and be able to effectively troubleshoot and incidents or occurrences at site.
