JOB DETAILS:
Job Purpose :
Database Administrator (DBA) will keep the bank databases up and running smoothly 24/7. The goal is to provide a seamless flow of information throughout the Bank, considering both backend data struc- ture and frontend accessibility for end-users.

Key Responsibilities :
• Build database systems of high availability and quality depending on each end user’s specialised role.
• Monitor database performance, implement changes and apply new patches and versions when required.
• Design and implement database in accordance to end users’ information needs and views.
• Ensuring that the database is adequately backed up and able to be recovered in the event of memory loss.
• Develop and Provide Reports through BIP to users as requested.
• Work with Internal and External Auditors to close all Database related queries and provide required data.
• Protecting the database against threats or unauthorized access.
• Define users and enable data distribution to the right user, in appropriate format and in a timely manner.
• Use high-speed transaction recovery techniques and backup data.
• Minimise database downtime and manage parameters to provide fast query responses.
• Provide proactive and reactive data management support and training to users.
• Determine, enforce and document database policies, procedures and standards.
• Perform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy and integrity.

Common ICT duties and responsibilities :
• Engages as a team member in the bank’s ICT projects.
• Enforces all necessary security procedures to ensure no unauthorized physical and logical accesses are gained into Databases.
• Attend project or departmental meetings to review projects or operations. This ensures teamwork enhancement and co-ordination of the projects as well as the operations.
• Learns overall ICT Business systems.
• Any other duties assigned from time to time.

Important relationships :

• Job is both internally and externally focussed, requiring that the individual be highly adaptable in terms of personal style and the development of business knowledge related to banking.
• The job requires relationships be built across the organisation.
• The jobholder will develop and nurture an external network of relationships
• Appropriate regional and cross country forums will require participation to ensure teambuilding and sharing of best practice across the organisation.

Knowledge :
Academic :

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology
• OCA or MSDBA Certification is an added advantage.

Professional :

• 2 years working experience as a Database Administrator.
• Hands-on experience with database standards and end user applications.
• Excellent knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, integrity and SQL.
• Familiarity with database design, documentation and Reports Design.
