Job Summary: Develop and implement country-level business strategies aligned with regional goals Identify opportunities in freight forwarding, air cargo, sea cargo, and inland logistics Ensure compliance with international freight forwarding standards and local regulations Oversee daily cargo operations including imports, exports, customs clearance, warehousing, and last-mile delivery Manage P&L performance, profitability, and cost optimization Negotiate contracts and service-level agreements with clients, airlines, shipping lines, and vendors Lead and develop cross-functional teams across operations, sales, customer service, and finance Maintain compliance with local laws, customs regulations, and corporate policies Build strong relationships with clients, partners, and stakeholders Monitor reporting, collections, and business performance
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement country-level business strategies aligned with regional goals
- Identify opportunities in freight forwarding, air cargo, sea cargo, and inland logistics
- Ensure compliance with international freight forwarding standards and local regulations
- Oversee daily cargo operations including imports, exports, customs clearance, warehousing, and last-mile delivery
- Manage P&L performance, profitability, and cost optimization
- Negotiate contracts and service-level agreements with clients, airlines, shipping lines, and vendors
- Lead and develop cross-functional teams across operations, sales, customer service, and finance
- Maintain compliance with local laws, customs regulations, and corporate policies
- Build strong relationships with clients, partners, and stakeholders
- Monitor reporting, collections, and business performance
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or related field
- Minimum 10-15 years of experience in cargo, freight forwarding, or logistics
- At least 5 years in a senior managerial role
- Strong communication, presentation, and leadership skills
- Experience in East African markets (Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda) is highly desirable
- Strong network with airlines, shipping lines, transporters, and government agencies
- Proven track record in sales growth, client acquisition, and revenue generation
- Strong business acumen and people management skills
