Job Objective/Purpose of Job:
The cost accountant will be responsible for overseeing and analysing cost expenditures and purchases within the organisation including production, prepare budget reports.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Production Accounting Management
- Analyse manufacturing costs and prepare regular reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
- Cross checking the procurement list provided by the production assistant
- Process and follow up with payments as required
- Make estimates of new and proposed product costs
- Provide management with reports that specify and compare factors that affect prices and profitability of products
2. Operational Cost Accounting
- Review services and products, record data, and make recommendations about cost-efficient and financially feasible cost options.
- Develop and maintain the cost accounting system, documents, and records of the organization.
- Analyse and recommend costs and cost savings.
- Able to collect, evaluate and interpret data, in both statistical and narrative form
- Prepare and complete internal cost audits.
- Collect cost information across all departments and maintain an expense database
- Assist in Audit and general ledger preparation
- Conduct physical inventory and monitor the cycle count on spa items and products
- Provide management with reports that specify and compare factors that affect prices and profitability of spa services being offered
- Develop and utilize spreadsheets, databases and other computer applications to keep accurate cost accounting records as requested
- Overview current accounting operational system and create new ideas that could aid revenue processing
- Make and submit detailed reports as required
- Construct data accumulation system for operations
- Handling various office duties as assigned or requested
3. Budgeting
- Be involved in all the necessary financial or economic research and budgeting for the accounting team
- Prepare (monthly, quarterly and annual) cost forecasts
- Prepare budgeting reports (for the spa and for production)
- Determine fixed costs, plan and record variable costs
- Analyse, report and create methods to maintain profit margin
- Assist with month-end and year-end budget review and closing

Education/Professional Qualification:
- BSc in Accounting or Finance or a related discipline.
- Relevant postgraduate and or professional qualification would be an added advantage.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2-5 years experience in cost accounting
- Experience with procurement and cost-control management
