Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare lesson plans, schemes of work, and teaching aids for cosmetology classes.
• Conduct both theoretical and practical training in hairdressing, beauty therapy, skin care, nail technology, and make-up.
• Demonstrate practical skills step-by-step to ensure students gain hands-on competencies.
• Assess and evaluate students through tests, assignments, and practical demonstrations.
• Supervise students during practical sessions, industrial attachments, and projects.
• Mentor and guide students on career development, professionalism, and customer service.
• Participate in curriculum development and review to align with Uganda TVET/CBET standards.
• Maintain accurate student records, including attendance, progress, and performance reports.
• Ensure proper care, safety, and maintenance of training equipment, tools, and facilities.
• Keep abreast of new industry trends, technologies, and practices to enrich student training.
• Represent the institution in beauty competitions, workshops, and exhibitions.
• Promote discipline, excellence, and the institution’s values by serving as a role model to students.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Diploma or higher qualification in Cosmetology, Beauty Therapy, Hairdressing, or a related field from a recognised institution.
• A teaching/training qualification or certification is an added advantage.
• Minimum of 2–3 years’ practical experience in cosmetology, salon, or beauty-related industry.
• Previous teaching or training experience in a vocational/college setting is desirable.
• Excellent practical skills in hairdressing, skin care, nail technology, and make-up.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and mentorship skills.
• Ability to prepare training content, manage a classroom, and assess students effectively.
• Creativity, innovation, and knowledge of modern beauty trends.
