JOB DETAILS:
Your mission
We are looking for a Corporate Communications Specialist who will be responsible for planning and gathering information from across War Child, overseeing content production and writing and editing English-language copy for all corporate and other relevant communications and campaigns, for a range of communications channels and audiences.
What you will do:
• Identifies and gathers information about our programmes, interventions and delivery and verifies facts, dates, and statistics that will support the fundraising efforts of our fundraising members, and our colleagues across the War Child Alliance Foundation.
• Manages and edits external communications copy and content from across the War Child Alliance Foundation, according to brand style guidelines, and supervises and advises others who do this work.
• Alongside the Visual Content Producer, plans, coordinates and oversees content production, including image, video and design and is responsible for writing/editing participant stories.
• Content manages, analysis and optimises the War Child Alliance corporate website, and social media channels (Linked In and X)
• Develops and maintains style guides to support coherent and on brand communications outputs.
Team
The Corporate Communications Specialist is part of the global Communications team in the War Child Alliance Foundation, responsible for brand management, reputation and corporate communications outputs. The Corporate Communications Specialist works closely and collaboratively with colleagues from across the War Child Alliance Foundation and Fundraising Member network and reports to the Head of Communications in the global Communications team. This role may also be subject to future line management duties as the team expands.
Communications
• Implementing and managing a global comms calendar alongside Alliance colleagues to map activity and comms/content outputs and need across the network.
• Copy and content planning in line with Alliance-wide comms requirements and needs.
• Providing communication advice on written content to internal stakeholders and assists in policy processes.
• Assisting in developing comms and content style guide lines and training stakeholders in their use.
• Managing the War Child Alliance corporate website, and corporate socials including Linked In and X – including content planning and execution as well as reporting and optimising, in collaboration with team colleagues.
Information gathering
• Implementing and maintaining information flow processes across the Alliance network.
• Actively following relevant developments in countries where War Child is present, in humanitarianism and within War Child.
• Actively networking with internal and external stakeholders to gather news and information.
• Analysing information, proposing content topics in the framework of the brand strategy and projects.
• Verifiying facts, dates, and statistics and compiling of data and statistical resources.
Copy writing
• Writing English-language content, within the framework of brand and style guidelines, for all of War Child’s corporate communications, including website and social media.
• Setting up and managing a clear sign off process for copy within agreed deadlines
• Editing and proofing content for all War Child’s external and, on occasion, internal English-language communication products and channels.
• Assigning content production to (freelance) external and internal copy writers, briefing, monitoring and editing
• Collaborating with other content producers (photo, video, design, online) to obtain high impact content and writing up/editing all participant stories from programmes.
• Implementing and managing a global content production calendar in collaboration with Alliance comms colleagues.
Maintenance of expertise
• Proactively gaining knowledge about humanitarian principles, War Child’s evidence-based methodologies and War Child’s way of working.
• Is informed of current affairs and sector trends relevant to War Child.
• Keeping track of content developments in digital and other communication channel spaces to keep channels relevant.
• Responsible / Contribute to / for creating a culture committed to the safeguarding of children, and adults and compliant to WCA Child Safeguarding policies.
Your profile
• Relevant background
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a comparable position in communications, marketing or journalism.
• Intellectual and professional capabilities at higher professional education level.
• Understanding of the full communications mix, including web, digital and social media.
• Understanding of the organisation and its processes and guidelines.
• Ability to express thoughts and ideas in writing and in person fluently in English
• Line management experience preferrable
