The Role

The Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring that Bird's services, products, and practices meet the compliance expectations of our customers and adhere to the relevant standards and regulations that apply to Bird. You will work on a variety of compliance domains, such as SOC2 control framework, ISMS, BCMS, and PIMS. Additionally, you will lead new compliance initiatives globally and collaborate closely with internal teams and external stakeholders like customers, auditors, and regulatory authorities.

You are required to have a high degree of self-sufficiency and responsibility in your day-to-day practices and are equally needed to ensure clear communication and stakeholder management, both internally as well as externally with customers, auditors, and regulatory authorities. The Compliance Officer reports directly to the Director of Data Protection and Compliance.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and ensure ongoing compliance with the IMS (Integrated Management System) requirements.
  • Build and maintain the internal controls framework designed for SOC 2 requirements.
  • Be the go-to individual for all questions about your compliance domains from colleagues, customers, auditors, and regulators.
  • Work closely with your colleagues of different expertise on customer compliance questionnaires and assessment (incl. RFIs and RFPs).
  • Participating in the development, planning and implementation of Bird’s compliance projects.
  • Proactively reviewing the management systems’ processes and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist in the development of procedures and related compliance guidelines.
  • Reviewing and continuously improving the compliance policies and procedures.
  • Drafting periodic reports and analyses to our Management Team.
  • Keeping up to date on the applicable industry standards, frameworks, laws and regulations.

What You’ll Bring

  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience in compliance, or an equivalent position.
  • A good understanding of management systems and control framework implementation and their maintenance (ISO 27001 family, SOC2, ISO 22301).
  • Ability to implement and critically review policies, procedures, standards, and controls in line with regulations and current compliance standards.
  • Ability to understand prerequisites included in newly released information security standards, frameworks, laws, regulations and translate them to company controls and requirements to be implemented.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrates exceptional ownership and accountability, with a proven track record of independently driving projects to completion and taking responsibility for outcomes
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities with a self-starter mentality - able to thoroughly investigate and research solutions before escalating issues, while knowing when to appropriately involve stakeholders
  • Excellent interpersonal and diplomatic skills, with demonstrated ability to navigate complex organizational dynamics and maintain productive relationships with multiple stakeholders
  • Experience in conducting formal compliance discussions and negotiations with clients and their representatives, showing strong attention to detail and procedural adherence
  • Track record of maintaining high quality standards in deliverables, with evidence of commitment to excellence and continuous improvement
  • Resilient and persistent in the face of challenges, with demonstrated ability to overcome obstacles and maintain performance under pressure
  • Strong organizational awareness and business acumen - able to understand various stakeholders' perspectives and adapt communication style accordingly
