Description

The Communications Coordinator (U-Learn Learning Hub) will play a central role in delivering the proposed outcomes of the Learning Hub as part of the U-Learn project. The Learning Hub’s (LH) objective is to facilitate uptake and learning during the Ugandan protracted refugee response and to build and communicate a strong evidence-base around what works.

We are looking for a social-media savvy, dynamic and creative person with excellent writing and interpersonal skills. S/he will support the functioning of the Learning Hub through support for the curation of existing resources and support for the production of new resources such as best practice studies. S/he will lead on communications work such as the production of communication materials, support for on-line and in person events, and the managing U-Learn’s social media presence. In addition, the Digital Communications Coordinator will lead on communication activities across all partners within the U-Learn consortium.

In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS Essential:

  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience in the communications field
  • International development or humanitarian sector experience
  • Excellent writing skills and ability to tailor products to audience.
  • Proven experience with developing communication plans
  • Experience curating and collating on-line resources
  • Experience producing content for social media
  • Experience organizing events
  • Ability to follow projects through from start to finish and carry out administrative tasks that come with the job.
  • A creative story-teller with highly developed interpersonal, networking and communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task, set priorities, and maintain positive attitude, functions well in a dynamic and high paced environment.
  • Curiosity for innovation management concepts, innovative approaches and new technologies.

Ability to work well independently, as well as part of a team.

Desirable

  • Working experience with desktop publishing software such as InDesign and Publisher, experience developing Infographics
  • Knowledge of digital analytics and insights;
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suites, analytics for Facebook and Google etc. HTML/CSS an advantage.
  • Experience with photography and videography editing software preferred)
