As a Coffee Mobilizer, you will play a crucial role in all sourcing activities related to green coffee. The role involves mobilizing coffee through the development and management of supplier networks, as well as ensuring quality and timely supply from upcountry branches and buying centres. The position is key in maintaining Touton’s sourcing competitiveness and sustainability.
Duties and Responsibilities
Main Missions
- Develop and implement a coffee mobilization strategy to ensure consistent supply aligned with quality, quantity, and cost requirements.
- Build, develop, and maintain strong sourcing networks with farmers, middlemen, hullery owners, and cooperatives.
- Ensure coffee quality standards are consistently met through inspection and pre- purchase sampling.
- Coordinate logistics for the collection, transportation, and delivery of sourced coffee.
Activities
- Identify, evaluate, and engage reliable coffee suppliers.
- Negotiate prices with suppliers, ensuring compliance with agreed quality thresholds.
- Maintain daily records of sourcing activities, including supplier information and quality data.
- Submit daily and weekly market and sourcing reports, including price trends and regional updates.
- Manage sourcing-related budgets and monitor cost efficiency while maintaining quality.
- Assist in regional production estimates and develop regional balance sheets.
- Ensure accurate reporting of purchases and coordinate with quality control for approval.
- Continuously evaluate sourcing processes for improvement and implement best practices.
- Maintain accurate databases of farmers, cooperatives, and aggregators.
- Undertake any additional responsibilities as assigned by the East Africa Regional Manager or Trader.
Qualifications
- A Diploma or Bachelors Degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years experience in coffee sourcing or procurement in the agriculture sector.
- Strong negotiation, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with coffee quality standards and grading practices.
- Ability to work in rural areas and manage field-based operations.
- Strong data recording and reporting skills.
- Fluency in English and local languages is an added advantage.
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
