JOB DETAILS:
Job Summary:
Instruct students in the subject matter in accordance with the current syllabus, maintain attendance records, assess student progress during their tenure
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide direct supervision to Nursing and Midwifery students during clinical placements in Hospitals, Health Centres, and Community settings.
• Monitor and guide students as they perform clinical tasks, ensuring patient safety and adherence to professional standards.
• Demonstrate clinical procedures and practices to students, serving as a role model for professionalism and ethical behavior.
• Mentor and coach students to build their confidence, competence, and critical thinking abilities.
• Provide constructive feedback to students on their clinical performance and guide them in addressing areas for improvement.
• Assess and evaluate students’ clinical skills, knowledge, and attitudes during their practical experiences.
• Maintain detailed records of students’ clinical progress and performance.
• Conduct regular assessments, including checklists, practical exams, and performance reviews, to ensure learning outcomes are met.
• Act as a liaison between Mengo School of Nursing and Midwifery and the clinical sites.
• Ensure that clinical placements are done accordingly.
• Ensure that students Log books are clearly filled and signed every semester.
• Perform any other duties assigned or incidental to the role.
Position Requirements (Job and Person Specifications):
• A bachelor’s degree in nursing or Midwifery.
• Must have progressed through academic ranks: Certificate /Diploma → bachelor’s degree in nursing/Midwifery.
• A valid practicing license from the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council (UNMC).
• At least 5 years of professional experience in Nursing or Midwifery practice.
• 1-2 Years teaching experience in a Nursing/Midwifery Training Institution is an added advantage.
• Strong clinical and practical Nursing/Midwifery skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with students, staff, and stakeholders.
• Passionate about teaching and mentoring students.
• Detail-oriented and able to work under minimal supervision.
• Committed to professional ethics and continuous learning.
• A team player with a collaborative mindset.
