JOB DETAILS:
Key Learning Areas
The Trainee will learn the following;
Research and Analysis
• Researching international and regional carbon markets, while analysing policy frameworks and market trends in Uganda and Eastern Africa.
• Preparing briefing notes, technical reports, or policy summaries.

Project Support
• Planning and organising workshops, training sessions, and meetings including for the Eastern Africa Alliance on Carbon markets and Climate Finance.
• Drafting presentations, reports, and communication materials.

Stakeholder Engagement
• Learn how to exchange with government agencies, private sector actors, NGOs, and international organisations involved in climate change and carbon markets.

Data Collection and Management
• Data collection and analysis for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
• Maintaining project files and ensuring proper documentation.

Administrative Tasks
• Logistical and coordination support during consultations and events.

Required qualifications, competences, and experience.
Qualifications
• A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Climate Change, forestry, economics, environmental engineering, natural resource management, or a related field.

Note: The candidate should have completed his or her degree no earlier than February 2023.

Other knowledge, additional competences
• Prior internship, volunteering, or coursework in climate change, carbon markets, or sustainable development is desirable.
• Familiarity with international climate policies, especially the Paris Agreement and Article 6 mechanisms.
• Strong research and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and writing skills in English.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Teams).
• Self-motivated, proactive, and willing to learn.
• Ability to manage time efficiently.
• Commitment to addressing climate change and promoting sustainable development.
