JOB DETAILS:
The Uganda National Mining Company (UNMC) was established under the Mining and Minerals Act, 2022 (Act No. 25 of 2022) and incorporated under the Companies Act 2012 (Act No. 1 of 2012). It is a limited liability company fully owned by the Government of Uganda.
Mission: To manage the commercial holdings and participating interests of the State in the mining and mineral industry to ensure that the country obtains optimal value from its mineral resources.
UNMC is recruiting an Executive Management Team to help achieve its vision of becoming a sustainable and profitable world-class mining and minerals company, creating value for its shareholders.

Role Summary:
The Chief Legal and Corporate Affairs Officer will oversee all legal, regulatory, and corporate governance matters while providing strategic legal advice to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide legal advice to management on regulatory and compliance issues.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and agreements.
• Ensure corporate governance compliance and legal risk management.
• Represent the company in legal proceedings and stakeholder engagements.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB), with a valid legal practice certificate.
• At least 7 years of experience in corporate law, with knowledge of mining or extractive industry regulations.
• Strong skills in negotiation, contract management, and corporate governance.
