JOB DETAILS:
Role Overview:
The Chairperson provides overall leadership to the SACCO. They are responsible for chairing meetings, steering the board in policy formulation, ensuring proper governance, and representing the SACCO at external engagements.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the board to ensure the SACCO adheres to its byelaws and the Cooperative Societies Act.
• Chair board meetings and ensure decisions align with SACCO objectives.
• Act as the official spokesperson of the SACCO.
• Ensure policies and resolutions are implemented effectively.
• Oversee the preparation of the SACCO’s strategic plan and monitor its progress.
• Facilitate good relationships between the SACCO, its members, and external stakeholders.
Requirements:
• Proven leadership experience, preferably in SACCOs, cooperatives, or financial institutions.
• Strong understanding of governance and financial management.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and conflict resolution skills.
• Must be in good standing with fully paid subscriptions.
Applying Instructions
Applications should be addressed to the Chairperson Vetting Committee and delivered at Crested Towers – 6th Floor People and Culture Department
1. Applications must include a filled application form and detailed personal profile (forms available from the Society management/secretariat).
2. A member may apply for a maximum of two positions.
3. All requirements/conditions for the different positions must align with the laws governing Cooperative Societies in Uganda and bye laws.
4. The selection process includes a face-to-face interview with the Vetting Committee.
5. Dissatisfied members can file complaints.
6. The Committee will present its final vetting report at the AGM.
7. SACCO leadership is purely voluntary.
8. Applicants must have fully paid up subscriptions and be in good standing.
