Job Title: Centre Manager- Bidi-Bidi Rehabilitation Centre
Organisation: Hope Health Action (HHA)
Duty Station: Bidi Bidi, Uganda
Reports to: HHA -Head of Programmes
About Organisation:
Hope Health Action (HHA) is a Christian NGO passionate about providing life-saving health and disability care to the world’s most vulnerable without any discrimination. Founded in 2007, HHA now operates in Haiti, South Sudan and Uganda (the latter two under the umbrella of HHA East Africa).
Our work includes responding to the refugee crisis in Uganda through disability, health, nutrition and education services and initiating a growing range of health and disability projects in South Sudan. This has included establishing one of the leading outpatient rehabilitation centres in Uganda, a new health clinic in the Kajo Keji county (SS) in 2023, extensive livelihood projections for 1,100+ households and working with the UNHCR providing a life-saving therapeutic food to all refugee settlements to tackle severe and acute malnutrition.
HHA EA currently has a passionate team of over 60 Ugandan and South Sudanese staff, with its operations continuing to grow significantly. In 2023 HHA EA won the prestigious Ockenden Prize, an international award that recognises excellent projects globally working with refugees. We are a dynamic and fast-growing organization. Job Summary: HHA is therefore looking for a highly motivated and experienced Centre Manager (CM) to oversee it’s operations in Bidibidi.
As a Centre Manager, he/she will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the centre operations by providing leadership, smooth communication, and efficient management while maintaining the delivery of high-quality care, and support to HHA clients
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership and Team Management
- Provide strong leadership to New Hope Bidi-bidi Rehabilitation Centre staff , including supporting in hiring, training, and performance management.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork and professional development. Ensuring that there is open and transparent communication among team members where feedback, ideas, and concerns are shared.
- Encourage diversity and inclusion by ensuring everyone feels included and valued. Promoting different perspectives and encouraging a culture of respect and acceptance
- Setting clear goals and expectations for the team, offer support and resources to help team members succeed, monitoring progress and providing guidance as needed.
- Leading by demonstrating a positive behaviour, embracing collaborative mindset, encouraging trust, empathy, and a positive attitude
Communication
- The Centre Manager will ensure clear and effective communication among team members, departments, and Senior Management
- Communicate regularly with the HHA East Africa and the UK Team on the progress of the activities, challenges, and recommendations for improvement.
- Managing communication with stakeholders to maintain a positive relationship by handling inquiries and providing feedback to protect the organization image.
Project Management
- Facilitating communication and collaboration among project team, ensuring that everyone is clear on their roles and responsibilities, and promoting a cohesive working environment.
- Supporting the project managers to keep track of the project milestones, timelines, and progress to ensure projects stay on schedule and within the budget.
Monitoring and reporting
- Consolidation of monthly reports, fund requests from the team lead
- Consolidation of success stories and case studies.
- Organizing feedback sessions with beneficiaries and disseminate to senior management
Administrative Oversight
- Manage daily administrative operations of the centre, including scheduling, record-keeping, and correspondence.
- Support Human Resource Manager to implement administrative policies and procedures to streamline workflows and enhance efficiency.
- Coordinate all staff meetings and workshops, take minutes, and ensure proper record management.
- Collaborate with HR to support staff performance management, and disciplinary actions when necessary.
Financial Management.
- Monitor budgets for the centre’s operations, ensuring expenditures are withing the approved limits.
- Analyzing financial reports to provide insights into the center’s financial performance, trends, and areas needing improvement.
- Implementing strategies to control costs, optimize resources, and improve efficiency without compromising quality.
- Collaborate with Senior management to develop financial plans, forecasts, and strategies aligned with HHA goals.
- Identifying financial risks and implementing risk mitigation strategies to safeguard the center’s financial stability.
- Ensuring adherence to financial regulations, policies, and procedures, and coordinating with auditors during financial audits
Community engagement and networking
- Represent HHA in the community, fostering relationships with stakeholders, agencies, and partners.
- Participate in community outreach, education, and advocacy initiatives to promote awareness and support for individuals with health challenges and disabilities.
Quality assurance and compliance
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, healthcare standards, and organizational policies.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments to maintain quality assurance and risk management practices.
- Implement initiatives to improve service quality and efficiency.
Organisation Assets
- Oversee the usage of HHA Assets and ensure that they are well maintained
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in public health, Public Administration and Management, Business Administration, Social works and Administration, or related field
- Proven strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of the Humanitarian work ethics and standard (Desirable)
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations, compliance standards, and best practices
Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in office management, budget controls, community mobilisation and operations X
- Relevant experience in working with NGO’s dealing in Health and Disability care
- Experience in financial management, and strategic planning, and supervisory role
Attributes:
- Ability to multitask, problem-solving, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to work in hard-to-reach areas and under minimal supervision
