Description

Background
The Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) is a limited liability company incorporated in Uganda under the Companies Act. UEDCL owns the 33KV and below voltage electricity distribution networks. The company sales and distributes electricity in Uganda as per ERA License issued on 31 December 2024 covering over 135 political districts, operates a modern pole plant at Lugogo, and executes key rural electrification schemes on behalf of the Government of Uganda.

Job Purpose
To provide efficient and reliable transportation of UEDCL materials, equipment, and supplies, ensuring safe delivery to designated locations while adhering to company policies and traffic regulations.
Impact: The Central Truck Driver plays a crucial role in supporting UEDCL’s operational efficiency by ensuring the timely and secure transport of essential items, contributing to uninterrupted service delivery.
Key Result Areas (KRAs)
1.Provide timely transportation of materials, equipment, and supplies to designated destinations.
2.Ensure adherence to delivery schedules and proper loading/unloading procedures.
3.Conduct daily checks on the truck to ensure it is in excellent working condition before operation.
4.Report mechanical faults or damages promptly to the Fleet Management Officer.
5.Always ensure cleanliness and readiness of the truck.
6.Follow UEDCL policies, road safety regulations, and traffic laws.
7.Secure cargo properly to prevent damage or accidents during transit.
8.Maintain a high standard of safety awareness while driving and operating the truck.
9.Accurately maintain trip logs, mileage, and fuel usage records.
10.Ensure proper documentation of cargo, including delivery notes and receipts.
11.Assist with loading, securing, and unloading cargo when required.
12.Respond to emergencies and support urgent transport requests.
13.Be available for transportation services during emergencies, ensuring prompt delivery of critical items.

2.Well-maintained truck with minimal mechanical issues or downtime.
3.Accurate and up-to-date trip and fuel usage records.

Person Specifications
Academic Qualifications
•UCE Certificate
•Valid permit with classes A, B, D1 C1
Experience
A minimum of 1 years of professional truck driving experience, preferably in a logistics or corporate setting.
Competencies
•Driving Expertise: Skilled in operating heavy-duty trucks under various conditions.
•Safety Awareness: Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and defensive driving techniques.
•Vehicle Maintenance: Ability to conduct basic truck inspections and identify maintenance needs.
•Communication Skills: Effective in interacting with supervisors and providing accurate reports.
•Reliability: Dependable and punctual in meeting transportation schedules.
