About the Company:

Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) is an independently governed institute within the College of Health Sciences at Makerere University and has the mission “To strengthen health systems in Africa, with a strong emphasis on infectious diseases, through research and capacity development.” IDI has operations across Uganda as well as in a number of other African countries and has a staffing of over 1,000 managing multiple projects in research, clinical services, public health and training.

 

Job Summary:   The position holder will work closely with the facility-based teams to integrate all care and treatment services along the HIV continuum for all sub-populations including adults, paediatrics, adolescents, pregnant and breastfeeding women, HIV-exposed infants, key and priority populations. In addition, the job holder will supervise the supportive HIV management systems including logistics and supply chain and laboratory systems for effective and efficient HIV services delivery.  They will promote and support quality improvement through use of CQI approaches at supported sites.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Routine review of registers and provide real time and continuous clinical mentorship, coaching and support supervision to the frontline health workers to ensure adherence and compliance to the current MoH guidelines and policies.

Support the complete updating of registers (HMIS paper-based Tools) and electronic medical records (EMR) for HIV care, PMTCT/EID, TB, QI and Retention in the supported facilities and ensure it is used to make decisions.

Support health facility teams to initiate and monitor at least one CQI project per thematic area per quarter and have them documented in CQI journals. Additionally, support National QI initiatives and Abstract writing for National QI conferences.

Spearhead retention strategies towards reduction of losses to follow-up and interruption in treatment for all ART, EID, and TB clients in all supported health facilities.

Actively participate in timely and accurate reporting including weekly SMS, MoH & CDC data calls, surge reports, monthly 105 and quarterly 106 reports as well as extra indicators as highlighted by the funder.

Spearhead Monthly HIV related facility CMEs and weekly Data use meetings or facility performance reviews.

Ensure facilities meet the COP targets in all thematic areas.

Support facilities to identify eligible clients for HIVDR resistance testing and active participation in 3rd line case preparations and discussions.

Provide technical oversight to frontline health workers for the implementation of quality comprehensive HIV care across the HIV cascade with a focus on the 95/95/95 UNAIDS target.

Make quarterly, monthly and weekly workplans to support care & treatment services integration for the allocated sites.

Ensure that the health workers obtain and use the updated tools while supporting comprehensive HIV care, TB prevention and treatment, PMTCT/EID services.

Support health facilities to identify, manage and report ADRs

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Active Registration with relevant Council required

2 years relevant experience in HIV/AIDS clinical experience

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively in a team
