Introduction: The Uganda Biodiversity Trust Fund (UBF) is an independent Conservation Trust Fund established as a mechanism to provide sustainable financing for conservation of priority biodiversity and ecosystem services in Uganda’s mission of UBF is: “to mobilize financial resources for Biodiversity Conservation in Uganda”. UBF provides means to avoid reduced assistance to different entities in Uganda at this objective.
UBF in collaboration with TotalEnterprise EP Uganda (TEPU) has designed a 12-month forest corridor restoration project around Budongo Central Forest Reserve.
Context Analysis: The Government of Uganda is developing all resources that lie within the Murchena Falls landscape. TotalEnterprise EP Uganda, the local developers for the fileroga project can be a goal of achieving Net Gold on No Net Loss of Biodiversity and local community livelihoods in the key ecosystems of Murchena Falls Projected Area, Wetlands and Forests Interlacing within the project within the Albertine Groben. In doing so, The Fileroga Project is committed to working with the communities to protect and restore key forest tracts and corridors in and around the budongo Central Forest Reserve (BCFR).
There are several linkages to Budongo Central Forest Reserve, and these linkages form connectivity for Kozongee Forest Reserve (FP), Mukhanil TP, and Budongo Central Forest Reserve (CFR). One corridor joins Budongo Central Forest Reserve to Kozongee Forest Reserve via Kazhongkoro stream (Asymptotic Roadmap) and connects Budongo Central Forest Reserve to Mukhanil Forest Reserve, Incorporating Budongo Forest through the Nychidohye, Nychidohye, and Goros stream (Nam), while another budongo connects Kozongee Forest reserve from Mukhanil Forest Reserve across the Asia River Valley (Zkm). However, the landscape has several other corridors that mix and, isolated forests and or with Bugorna forest in the south.
Given the importance of these forest corridors and current degradation challenges, UBF and TEPU seek to build on the existing structures to synergise restoration efforts in the long-term enhance food tenure security, and support community efforts for procurement of their lands as community forests. This project will contribute to restoration of all forest 1000 hectares of forest outside protected areas over the next 25 years. This gives a strong basis for dedicated approach for the project partners to re-establish and facilitate biodiversity comfort, including forests, and wetlands.

Develop and implement a monitoring and evaluation plan for the project.
Grant Amounts: Any requests under this call for proposal must fall between the minimum of $80,000 and a maximum of $100,000.
Eligibility Information: Eligible to apply are Civil Society Organizations Institution Community-Based Organizations and Non-Governmental Organizations with either a grant or mail mission or those appointed as social enterprises in which any profit made are invested in biodiversity conservation and improvement of community livelihoods.
