Job Overview:
On behalf of our client, we seek to recruit a highly competent, hardworking and self-motivated individual to fill the position of Business Manager. The Business Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the operation of the Restaurant to secure the maximum in revenues and guest satisfaction
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Operational Management
• Planning, Controlling, Sales Analysis and services ordinarily provided of a management nature.
• Develop office & home delivery sales - focus on banks, NGO’s, Embassies etc.
• Develop bulk order sales to office / business canteens.
• Market and popularize the new food and drink items to maximize sales and profits from customers visiting the Restaurant.
• Expand the services to adequately cover early morning breakfast and evening tea times so as to maximize sales for key Restaurant locations specifically Kimathi, Kampala road and Accassia (coffee, tea, pastries, fruit salad, sandwiches, salads, soups, cheese, ice cream, smoothies, milk shakes etc).
• Develop innovative sales and marketing promotions to increase trial, purchase and repeat sales.
• Ensure the experience of Restaurant customers is always the best whenever they visit Restaurant branches by ensuring, cleanliness of staff and Restaurant, best customer services/speed of services, availability of all Restaurant menu items and best quality meals/drinks etc.
• Co-ordinate activities between production, restaurant and delivery staff and ensure that all menu items are available all the time.
• Ensure the preparation of daily and monthly stock and cash reconciliations, analyze and follow up to ensure no stock/cash losses both at CPU and at the branches. This should be done through supervisors at the branches and accounts at the CPU.
• Ensure daily banking of the takings.
• Analyze Daily/monthly `sales, expenditures to ensure profitability.
• Co-ordinate / organize all daily and bulk restaurant purchases.
• Ensure maintenance of high standards of hygiene for both workers and the Restaurant to ensure the best ambience for our customers– Ensuring Compliance with international health codes (health and safety standards)
• Ensure proper administrative book keeping and paperwork of all restaurant activities.
• Recruit, develop and manage adequate levels of staff per location to ensure the highest standard of services to Restaurant customers. Involve directors and accounts whenever recruiting staff.
• Ensure all required inputs are being procured in time to avoid any stock outs and to ensure items are not overstocked leading to wastages.
• Minimize losses and wastages through prudent stock management practices
• Daily and weekly reporting to directors about the performance of the business in the areas above.
• Identify new Restaurant locations to expand the business.
• Attend Directors’ meetings on invitation.
General Management
• Play a pivotal role in promoting and inspiring the Restaurant vision and influence other employees to share ownership of Restaurant goals. Communicate the Restaurant goals to staff.
• Facilitate workforce effectiveness through motivating Restaurant staff within the work environment that promotes mutual trust and respect.
• Advise the directors where necessary on the adequacy of the staff and ensure that the human resource at all restaurants is effectively deployed to address all needs of the business and sustain service and product delivery.
• Coach, mentor and pass on skills related to the restaurant, fast food and take away business to supervisors at all Restaurant branches to improve their skill and effectiveness and to ensure that when on leave the said supervisors are equipped with the necessary capacity and skills to adequately manage the restaurants in your absence.
• Create a cooperative environment by identifying causes of conflict and seeking to reach mutually beneficial solutions with Restaurant staff.
• Deal with all service provider and suppliers in a way which creates long lasting relationships and negotiate favorable terms of supply for Restaurant.
• Ensure that Restaurant staff demonstrate a high standard of customer service towards all Restaurant customers at all times and promote a “customer is king” service oriented environment in all restaurants that depicts the highest standard of customer relationship management.
• Other duties required in the management of the restaurants as shall be communicated by the Managing Director.
Skills and requirements
• Supervisory experience of 5 years or more
• Degree in catering and hospitality management
• Strong leadership skills

• Sound financial knowledge - able to analyse financial information
• Relationship management skills
