Job Purpose

The Branding and Communications Officer will support ASA Microfinance Uganda Ltd’s social performance and sustainability agenda by developing and implementing branding and communication initiatives that promote responsible finance, customer protection, environmental and social impact, and corporate sustainability. The role ensures consistent brand representation while effectively communicating the institution’s social mission, values, and impact to internal and external stakeholders.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Branding & Corporate Identity

  • Ensure consistent application of ASA Microfinance Uganda Ltd’s brand guidelines across all communication platforms and materials.
  • Develop branding and visibility materials in line with the institution’s social performance and sustainability objectives.
  • Safeguard the corporate brand by ensuring ethical, responsible, and inclusive communication practices.

Social Performance & Sustainability Communication

  • Translate social performance, sustainability, and impact data into clear, engaging communication materials.
  • Support the development of sustainability reports, social performance reports, and impact stories.
  • Document and communicate customer success stories, community outreach initiatives, and CSR activities.

Internal & External Communications

  • Develop and disseminate internal communication materials that promote staff awareness of social performance, customer protection, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Prepare newsletters, briefs, presentations, speeches, and reports related to social performance and sustainability.
  • Support communication with regulators, partners, investors, donors, and industry stakeholders.

Public Relations & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Coordinate communication with media houses and external partners on sustainability and social impact matters.
  • Support organization of events, campaigns, and stakeholder engagements related to financial inclusion, customer protection, and sustainability.
  • Assist in managing the institution’s public image in line with its social mission.

Digital & Content Management

  • Manage and update content on the institution’s website and social media platforms with a focus on social impact and responsible finance.
  • Create engaging content (written, visual, and basic multimedia) aligned with ASA’s brand and sustainability priorities.
  • Monitor digital engagement and prepare performance and visibility reports.

Monitoring, Reporting & Compliance

  • Track branding and communication activities related to social performance and sustainability.
  • Maintain records and archives of communication materials, media coverage, and impact stories.
  • Ensure communication materials comply with regulatory, ethical, and institutional standards.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Consistency and quality of branding aligned to social performance principles
  • Effectiveness of sustainability and impact communication
  • Stakeholder engagement and visibility of social initiatives
  • Timely delivery of communication materials and reports

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication, Public Relations, Journalism, Development Studies, Marketing, or a related field.
  • At least 2–4 years’ relevant experience in branding, communications, sustainability, or social impact communication.
  • Experience in microfinance, financial services, NGOs, or development organizations is an added advantage.

Skills and Competencies

  • Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of branding, corporate communications, and social performance principles.
  • Ability to translate technical or impact data into compelling stories.
  • Digital communication and social media management skills.
  • Basic graphic design skills (Canva, Adobe tools) are an added advantage.
  • Strong organizational and stakeholder engagement skills.
