Job Purpose
Lead and manage the branch to achieve the financial and business targets while ensuring compliance with policies and regulations, and delivering exceptional customer service.
Responsibilities/Key Deliverables
- Drive and manage the Branch's financial performance, including Assets and liabilities, profitability, and quality of the asset book.
- Adhere to all KYC and AML processes regarding new business to protect the Bank from potential financial risks.
- Support segment and sector heads, including those in SME, Corporate, Consumer, Islamic Banking & Finance, Bancassurance, and Trade Finance to champion their growth agenda in the branch.
- Foster a sense of ownership and responsibility among all branch staff to engage them in contributing to the branch's business targets.
- Assign business and revenue targets to branch staff based on business potential,monitor their performance, and provide necessary support to ensure they deliver on agreed targets.
- Proactively lead customer relationship management at the Branch to improve customer service and retention to ensure that the Bank mines maximum value from all its customers.
- Monitor daily branch operations and enforce compliance with Bank policies and procedures to achieve good Audit, Compliance, and risk ratings.
- Contribute to product development and review based on feedback from branch staff, customers, and market research to support the Bank in meeting customer needs.
- Manage and monitor branch costs and ensure they are within the approved budget.
- Manage staff performance and development in accordance with the set key performance indicators to build a motivated and high-performance team.
- Proactively lead customer relationship management at the Branch to improve customer service and retention to ensure that the Bank mines maximum value from all its customers.
- Monitor daily branch operations and enforce compliance with Bank policies and procedures to achieve good Audit, Compliance, and risk ratings.

- Conduct a needs analysis with all new and existing customers to ensure that the product opportunities identified are appropriate to meet their needs and expectations.
- Promote the bank’s community involvement initiatives and corporate social responsibility efforts
- Identify the staff, skill, and competence gaps within the branch and work closely with Human Resources, segment heads, and the Manager Distribution channels to recruit, train, and mentor the branch staff.
- Champion the bank’s digital banking strategy at the branch.
Financial Responsibility
- Responsible for the delivery of annual branch budgets and targets.
Person Specification
Education & Training
- A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, Management, or any relevant field.
- Possession of a certified banking qualification or Master's degree in a relevant field is an added advantage.
Skills & Experience
- 5 years’ experience in Banking with 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Demonstrable record of effectively leading teams of people and track record of effective performance management.
- Strong selling and negotiation skills.
- Excellent knowledge of general banking practices and procedures.
- Seasoned knowledge of branch operations.
- Strong knowledge of banking operations, product customer segmentation, and the political, economic, and socio-cultural components of the Ugandan economy
- In-depth understanding of credit and financial drivers in the financial services industry.
- Deep understanding of financial products, services, and regulatory requirements within the business and commercial banking landscape.
- Relevant knowledge in driving digital banking.
