Q-Sourcing Limited trading as Q-Sourcing Servtec is a manpower management solutions firm operating in the East African Region in the countries of Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, and South Sudan.

On behalf of one our clients we are looking for a competentskilled, and experienced Automation Engineer to work in Kampala Uganda.

Job summary:

Automation engineers design, program, simulate and test automated machinery and processes to complete exact tasks. They typically are employed in industries such as car manufacturing or food processing plants, where robots or machines are used to perform specific functions

Key roles and responsibilities

  • Performs work on system maintenance and process improvement projects while being ready to respond to problems on the production lines.
  •  Supports new equipment design and installation.
  • Supports the entire Plant. This includes the Syrup lines, blowing and filling, conveyors, labeler, shrink wrapper, CIP stations etc.
  • Understand the impact of control systems on quality. Always perform work to safeguard product quality.
  •  Set up and implement preventive maintenance procedures for automation systems.
  • Maintain effectiveness when experiencing major changes in work tasks or the work environment
  •  Carry out responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies, procedures, and state, federal and local laws.
  •  Work closely with Maintenance Technicians and Production Technicians. Provide guidance and training in areas of automation and controls including associated hazards.
  •  Perform related duties as assigned.
  • Configure, program, and troubleshoot PLC systems.  Allen Bradley/ Siemens ControlLogix, some PLC5 and SLC500. Some Siemens S7. Some B&R Automation.
  •  program, and troubleshoot HMI systems.
  • Configure, program, and troubleshoot SCADA systems.
  • Actively participate as a self-directed and committed member of a team and work with other team members to achieve the department and plant goals and objectives.
  •  Understand how to select controls and electrical components, specify correct ordering information, and help procure components.

Key requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, such as mechanical or electrical engineering
  • 3-5 Hands on experience in related field
  • Creative thinking, detail orientation, manual dexterity
  • Solid understanding of computer programming and software development
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment problems and perform complex system tests
  • Creative thinking skills
  • Detail-oriented personality
  • Excellent manual dexterity
  • Ability to communicate well to other members of the development team
