Department: Internal Audit
Reports To: Audit Supervisor (Operations Audit)
Grade: HFB 4 A
Housing Finance Bank, a leading provider of housing finance solutions, is seeking a qualified and dynamic individual to fill the role of Audit Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to join a commercial bank with a vision to be the preferred consumer and business bank focusing on housing finance.
Job Purpose
To provide assurance on the adequacy and proper functioning of the Bank’s framework of risk management, control, and governance processes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Risk Management:
o Provide input into the development of appropriate audit tests to address identified risks and achieve desired audit objectives.
2. Audit Procedures:
o Conduct audit procedures, including identifying and defining issues, reviewing evidence, and analyzing client processes and procedures.
3. Annual Audit Planning:
o Assist the Audit Supervisor in identifying and evaluating the Bank’s risk areas and provide input into the development of the Annual Audit Plan.
4. Audit Reporting:
o Prepare clear and concise audit reports on findings, including instances of non-compliance with Bank policies, statutory requirements, and procedures, for discussion with the Audit Supervisor and Management.
5. Stakeholder Engagement:
o Develop and maintain productive relationships with clients and staff through individual contacts and group meetings.
6. Support and Execution:
o Perform other related tasks as assigned by audit management.
Qualifications and Training
• Education:
o Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Statistics from an accredited institution.
o Partial qualification in CIA, CPA, ACCA, or CISA. A full professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA or ACCA) is an added advantage.
• Certifications:
o Certification in CIA, knowledge of auditing, taxation, accounting, business analysis, or program evaluation is an added advantage.
o Experience using ACL or similar data analysis tools is also a plus.
Skills and Experience
• Minimum of three years’ experience in auditing/accounting or working with an audit firm, with a strong background in financial reporting and taxation.
