Purpose of the Job

To provide academic leadership and knowledge in the relevant discipline and lead the development and implementation of research and publications.

Person Specifications

1. PhD in Laboratory Science or in the related field from accredited institution of higher learning

2. Master of Medical Laboratory Science or Laboratory Science (Biological Techniques) or Master of Biomedical Laboratory Technology from a recognized University or Institution.

3. An Honours Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science or Laboratory Science (Biological Techniques) or Bachelor of Biomedical Laboratory Technology from a recognized University or Institution.

4. Should be registered with Allied Health Professional Council

5. Should have conducted research as a Senior Lecturer in the relevant discipline, published and had at least seven (7) years of teaching in a recognized institution of higher learning.

6. Should have demonstrated academic excellence and has three (3) new publications in area of specialization since appointment to the position of Senior Lecturer.

7. Should have supervised at least three (3) graduate students to completion since last promotion.

8. Should have a good track record of service to the public.

Duties and Responsibilities

a. Preparing and delivering lectures to undergraduate and postgraduate students.

b. Conducting research and disseminating research findings.

c. Promoting knowledge transfer of his/her subject through original work.

d. Guiding and supervising students doing research.

e. Conducting seminars.

f. Setting and marking tests, examinations and course work.

g. Guiding and advising students on their performance.
