What is the opportunity?
Under the direction of the WASH Officer, the Assistant WASH Officer is responsible for the implementation of Water programs in Health and Hygiene, Evangelism and Outreach, and Micro-enterprise and sustainability within the country program following established standards and procedures. This position requires that the person relocate/reside at Jinja-Uganda. The position requires travel to remote locations within the respective districts to support the implementation of the WASH aspects at all levels.

Status: Fixed Term-Full-Time Contract
The Assistant WASH Officer is responsible for this.
General Responsibilities:
• Maintain a strong Christian witness and model servant leadership to colleagues, partners, the communities we serve, and the public.
• Engage and participate in prayer before and after team meetings
• Lead and participate in Biblically-based staff devotions
• Effectively communicate the mission and scope of Water Mission to various audiences.
Key duties and responsibilities
• Participate with the highest degree of excellence in supporting the WASH-related activities undertaken by WMU in the communities within the assigned district and nearby districts' when the need arises.
• Take the lead in Participating in coordination meetings and represent WMU in other forums within the communities we serve.
• Support the formation, training, and follow-up of Safe Water Committees on the already existing and new safe water projects within the communities we serve.
• Mobilization of communities in the assigned location to participate in WASH activities as the need arises.
• On a routine basis notify the head office- WASH team leader of matters requiring attention and action accordingly
• Take a leading role in supporting the rollout of user fee contributions among the community and activate WASH promotion by the Promoters.
• Participate and routinely document lessons learned and MSC-most significant case studies arising from the communities.
• Develop and submit weekly & monthly timely reports on the program in the respective districts.
• Participate and contribute towards the development of tools for assessments and collection of baseline data for WASH-related activities.
• Endeavor to work harmoniously with the Tap operators to ensure that the settlement has running water in the stand taps at all the designated times.
• Ensure that communities are fully mobilized for safe water projects as per WMI standards.
• Ensure that accurate and complete accounting and reports are prepared and submitted to the office in time as required.
• Any other duties assigned from time to time by the supervisor.

Education Qualification and Experience:
• Diploma in Public health, Environmental Health Science, Community Psychology, Social work, and Social Administration or equivalent professional qualification
Skills & Abilities
• One (1) year of experience in WASH in developmental programming
• Ability to ride a motorcycle with a Valid Class A riding permit.
• Skills with Office Computer Programs i.e. PowerPoint presentation, Excel, and Ms Office.
• Ability to work well independently and in collaboration with others.
• Ability to schedule and prioritize work for self.
• Ability to multi-task and establish priorities.
• Ability to exhibit initiative, responsibility, and flexibility.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly articulate ideas and feedback constructively.
• Commitment to the values and mission of the organization and ending the global water crisis.
