About the Opportunity

The Agrifood System Transformation for Youth Employment (ASTYE) program in Uganda is a transformative
initiative designed to address systemic challenges hindering agricultural development and youth employment,
particularly for young women. Funded by the Mastercard Foundation and implemented in partnership with
DSG, AGRA, and GOAL, ASTYE aims to create dignified and fulfilling work opportunities for young people
while strengthening Uganda’s agrifood ecosystem.
DSG is seeking a highly motivated Analyst to support the ASTYE Uganda program by contributing rigorous
analysis, structured problem-solving, and high-quality outputs across priority workstreams. The role is similar
in nature to an entry-level analyst position in a management consulting firm and is designed for early-career
professionals with strong analytical capability, intellectual curiosity, and a desire to contribute to large-scale
systems change. The Analyst will work closely with senior team members to support the design, analysis, and
delivery of program activities, ensuring workstreams are executed to high quality standards and within agreed
timelines.

In this role, you will make impact by;

Structured Problem Solving and Analysis
• Identify and structure complex problems, develop
clear hypotheses, and apply appropriate analytical
frameworks to test assumptions and solutions.
• Conduct rigorous quantitative and qualitative analysis
using pragmatic, field-appropriate methods.
• Source, clean, validate, and quality-check data to
ensure accuracy, reliability, and relevance.
Research and Stakeholder Engagement
• Conduct desk research and primary research to
inform analyses and recommendations.
• Synthesize stakeholder inputs into clear insights that
inform decision-making.
• Organize and conduct interviews with stakeholders
up to mid-management level and support broader
stakeholder engagement activities.
Insight and Knowledge Product Generation
• Execute analyses drawing on best practices from
public and private sectors and relevant academic
disciplines.
• Develop clear, actionable insights for program teams,
partners, and stakeholders.
• Produce high-quality presentations, briefing notes,
and written outputs aligned with program standards.
Workstream Execution and Delivery
• Plan, prioritize, and manage assigned workstreams
from start to finish, including data collection, analysis,
content development, stakeholder input, and
validation.
• Ensure delivery against agreed timelines, quality
standards, and workplans.
• Support operational aspects of workstream delivery,
including scheduling, logistics, procurement, and
coordination of field activities and workshops.
Communication and Team Collaboration
• Engage proactively and regularly with senior team
members to seek input, test thinking, and refine
outputs.
• Identify risks or issues affecting timely delivery of
workstreams and communicate them early, with
proposed solutions.
• Contribute positively to a collaborative, high-
performance team environment.

Education & Professional Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in any discipline, with strong academic performance (minimum GPA of 3.5 or equivalent).
• Less than 12 months of full-time professional work experience.
Skills & Technical Competencies
• Strong interest in agriculture, economic development, and systems-level change in Uganda (prior sector
experience not required).
• Demonstrated analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Genuine intellectual curiosity and motivation to learn and innovate.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and the local working language.
• Ability to work effectively in teams and adapt to fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environments.
• Highly coachable, receptive to feedback, and committed to continuous improvement.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
