POSITION: AGI CONSTRUCTION SITE LEAD LOT 1 – PS1 or PS2
REPORT TO: N+1 LOT MANAGER, N+2 PACKAGE MANAGER
COMPANY SUMMARY:
This company is involved in the construction, and operation of a crude oil pipeline. The company has extensive interaction with national and local government entities including various ministries and agencies right to LCIs at a village level.
JOB SUMMARY:
The AGI Construction Site Lead will play a key role in overseeing and managing the construction of the Uganda Pump Station 1 or Pump Station 2, with responsibility for leading up to 450 workers during peak mobilization. This role includes reviewing AGI construction documentation, ensuring the implementation of the detailed design MTO, and contributing to any necessary updates. The Construction Manager will ensure all construction activities are fully compliant with the client, IFC, and national HSE standards, while fostering a zero-accident safety culture. This position requires delivering the AGI facilities within the approved project schedule, adhering to the budget, and ensuring the integration of National Content requirements throughout the project. The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader with a strong focus on safety, compliance, and project efficiency.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- To support the Lot Manager to manage the AGI construction contracts and relevant activities; monitoring contractors’ achievement and review Change Orders Requests related to construction activities.
- To control the construction package, quality, cost, and progress in accordance with approved project requirements, budget and schedule.
- To promote cost reduction initiatives and strive to optimize costs and achieve value at every opportunity.
- To assist the Lot Manager and the Delivery Manager in monitoring and to account for and follow-up mitigation of project risks.
- To organize and propose the AGI construction team for LOT1 – PS1or PS2, interacting with a multidisciplinary technical team efficiently and in a good working atmosphere and integrating as need be partners secondees.
- To work with in full coordination with EPcmC construction team ensuring best use of project resources and efficient implementation of Quality Surveillance teams
- On LOT1 – PS1 or PS2 to coordinate and interface with other Project development entities (Engineering, Operations, HSEQ, E&S team and project control groups).
- To ensure construction contractors implement the project National Content plan and E&S mitigations plan.
- To report progress and provide input to weekly and monthly reports.
- To ensure the teams under job-holder’s responsibility are appropriately supervised and have received adequate instruction and training to carry out their role in a safe manner.
- To Coordinate and interface with all LOT1 – PS1or PS2 entities to ensure construction needs are accounted for in the design and procurement activities and that project early activities schedule coincide with construction plan.
- To ensure compliance with our client’s obligations under Upstream agreement for sections included in Pump Station 1 or Pump Station 2 (Uganda) are strictly adhered to.
- Act as construction site lead
- To adopt and demonstrate exemplary behavior with regard H3SE and H3SE rules implementation.
- To adopt and demonstrate exemplary behavior about ethics and project “code of conduct” policy.
- To participate to meetings with partners, authorities and other stakeholders as required whenever advised by line managers.
- To carry out any other duties or tasks that may be required by the position.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND EXPERTISE:
- Degree: BSc (or equivalent formal qualification) in a recognized Engineering discipline
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience with at least 5-7 years in Oil &Gas Industry with similar large-scale projects
- Ability to adapt and to represent the company in discussions, negotiations and meetings with contractors, partners, and regulatory authorities.
- Ability to effectively lead and manage a team; Sound organization ability; Ability to work in a multi-cultural business environment; Good interpersonal and communication skills; Good motivational skills.
- English as mother tongue or Fluent in English (speaking and with excellent writing skill)
