About Organisation:
The German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) has commissioned the Gesellschaft fϋr Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) with implementing the “Strengthening Good Governance in Sudan” Programme. This intervention aims to strengthen Sudanese civil society actors in their efforts to contribute to peaceful and inclusive development in Sudan.
The programme comprises four areas of intervention, namely 1) enable Sudanese civil society actors to continue their work outside and inside of Sudan, 2) supporting Sudanese citizens to engage in inclusive activities strengthening peace and social cohesion, 3) to connect Sudanese civil society and to elevate their voices as well as 4) to support adaptive and context-sensitive implementation.
Within area 2, the “Strengthening Good Governance in Sudan” Programme has set up the Small Grants Fund which will support small- to mid-sized Sudanese civil society organisations (CSOs) working on women empowerment, countering hate speech and fake news, addressing local conflicts and civic education. The projects will be identified and selected through a Call for Proposals.
Job Summary: GIZ Uganda is recruiting an Advisor for Networking of Civil Society Organisations
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- The Advisor for Networking of Civil Society Organisations will be responsible for:
- Devise a networking concept for the GIZ Sudan Good Governance programme with special focus on Sudanese CSOs supported through the Small Grants Fund
- Plan and organise networking events for Small Grants Fund grantees, other GIZ partners and stakeholders
- Advise Sudanese civil society organisations regarding the design and implementation of networking, exchange and/or dialogue activities
- Contribute to knowledge management and the external communications of the programme
Specific Tasks
The Advisor for Networking of Civil society Organisations performs the following tasks:
Devise a networking concept for the GIZ Sudan Good Governance programme with special focus on Sudanese CSOs supported through the Small Grants Fund
- Devise a concept of different networking activities (online, in-person and hybrid) to bring together Small Grants Fund grantees, other GIZ grantees and other interested Sudanese civil society representatives and other stakeholders
- Plan network opportunities according to the different thematic areas of the Small Grants Fund’s Call for Proposals
Plan and organise networking events for Small Grants Fund grantees, other GIZ partners and stakeholders
- Organise meetings and oversee its logistical aspects such as invitation and travel management in close coordination with the programme team and the country office
- Plan and moderate online network and peer-to-peer exchange meetings
Advise Sudanese civil society organisations regarding the design and implementation of networking, exchange and/or dialogue activities
- Advise and support Sudanese CSOs with designing of networking, exchange and/or dialogue activities
- Provide regular backstopping and technical support to project partners´ networking, exchange and/or dialogue activities
- Evaluate narrative reports of project partners with regard to results of networking, exchange and/or dialogue activities
Contribute to knowledge management and the external communications of the programme
- Document results of networking events and contribute to the knowledge management of the programme.
- Manage and expand the programme’s internal partner database.
- Contribute to the external communications of the programme and to reporting.
Other Duties/Additional Tasks
- Perform other duties and tasks at the request of management.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Political Science, Social Science, Development Studies, Communication Studies
Details of experience
- 5 years of professional experience in similar field.
- Experience with organising networks, event management and communications is an asset.
- Experience in working in multicultural and decentral teams
Knowledge, skills and competences
- Proficiency in English; excellent command of Arabic
- Proven knowledge of Sudan and its civil society.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, especially real-time collaboration and messaging.
